Pros

An Easy laid back environment, benefits are expensive but good, hour long lunch period, long term possibility if you are popular and willing to kiss butt. Air conditioning and heat. Diverse customer base. Free admission to parks and county lakes

Cons

The management are typically in their positions due solely to Seniority, your job security is based on popularity rather than job performance. Typical government worker stereotype is proven true. Mean, cynical, hateful, backbiting and small mindedness. If you are not a butt kisser and expect to be treated fairly based on work rendered....this is not the job 4 you.

Pros

Access to over priced vending machines.

Cons

Have a boss who's managerial style is straight out of the 1950's. Mandatory and unpaid overtime. Zero respect for Life-Work Balance. Managers who suffer from senility. Multiple managers who pull you in multiple directions. Managers who got to where they are by being failed high-school English teachers.

Pros

None. Sorry I wasted my time there hopeing it would get better.

Cons

Too many to list here. Reverse discrimination. Policy is enforced based on if they like you or not.......or if they want to make themselves look good by targeting you. Lousy supervisors. Backstabbing and lying on people is the norm. Very poor pay and poor moral. All departments, especially the Jackson County Department of Corrections, have extremely high turn over because they treat people so bad. County government seems not to care. The stress from working there made me I'll. Since I left my health has improved %100 and I am stress free. Plus no more knived crammed in my spine. Wasted 14 years there hopeing for a light at the end of the tunnel. There was none. Political appointments are given to cronies with massive saleries.
