I enjoy the busy environment and the community really supports our school. The children are a pleasure to teach, and the local school board members are very visible in the schools.
Cons
Principals change frequently, and this adds to a feeling of never knowing what the next school year brings. The salary is not very good, but having the summers off is a great perk.
There's definitely a sense of freedom of ideas, and you get to work with kids. Initially the atmosphere is welcoming, and since it's a small school, it's an intimate setting.
Cons
Unfortunately, once you're there for a while, you see just how clique-oriented and gossipy it is. Due to certain employees, there's a very hostile work environment including elements of harassment and utter ill-will. You're also working with an extremely small budget - i.e. not enough money to even buy paper for the full year.
