Great people, tough business

Pros

The people at Jana are great to work with. They are fun-loving, hard-working, self-motivated crew. The company provides all sorts of benefits and perks including unlimited PTO, monthly company fun events, a great work space, any technology you need to get your job done.

Cons

The company did really well riding the wave of CPI marking in India but the product's efficacy has since faltered. The company ties to sell themselves as a premium product at high prices but reality is that it just doesn't deliver quality for many clients and that makes it really hard to grow revenue quarter over quarter.

Great on all fronts

Pros

- Pay and benefits seem to be great - Culture is fun and definitely off-kilter in a good way - The overarching attitude is that if people are happy, they'll do a better job, and so there's a lot of effort to make sure people are happy. It really pays off.

Cons

There aren't any cons in my mind, really. But I'll cast a couple things that I see as what could be perceived as cons, and give my 2 cents on why I don't think they're really bad things. - A lot of people work a lot of hours and on weekends, and people might take that as a bit of implicit pressure to do the same; however, I actually haven't really seen real pressure to do so, mostly that seems to be that people really just are into their jobs. I personally don't mind this -- I never see people leaving at 4:59 like at some places I've been. - In some cases there can be some dissonance in the objectives of different teams, where their success metrics can compete a little bit. It presents an interesting analytical problem, actually, and it's forcing us to rethink how to make sure we're picking the metrics that best help the business, not just optimizing metrics which are really a means to an end, not the end themselves.

Smart... and focused

Pros

The people here are the best reason to work here; really smart, very driven. Second best - and equally impressive - is probably the business opportunity: things are really coming together for emerging markets and smartphones. It's a unique team and a very unique idea - these sorts of opportunities don't happen very often! Most people here now have 2+ years with the company: the internal rhythm really feels good too.

Cons

There were lay-offs in 2012, as the reviewer below mentions. Not fun for anyone. With our very sharp focus now & (very) successful Series B round, seems pretty unlikely we'll have to go through that again.
