On behalf of Jannus, we very much appreciate feedback from current and former employees regarding their experience at Jannus and encourage that feedback in a variety of ways. In November 2017, we conducted an employee survey where we asked staff why they work at Jannus. We received a significant number of comments (more than half of the staff who participated in the survey provided a comment) quite different from the comments posted above. Comments ranged from “Jannus is an organization filled with remarkable, mission-driven, smart people doing remarkable, rewarding work. I love working here.” to “I love coming to work. The passion Jannus employees have is contagious and inspiring and there is so much respect for one another’s work. The only thing better is to see the actual CHANGE that takes place in people’s lives as a result of the work. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of.” If you’re considering applying for a position with Jannus or would like to learn more about Jannus and our programs, see our website at www.jannus.org. Our administrative team contact information is available under Staff. We’d love to hear from you!

Pros

Many coworkers are amazing. Some of the most committed, friendly, and talented people you'll ever meet.

Cons

Save yourself the time of working here. Management is horribly manipulative and inconsistent. I felt like a tiny peon in everyone's quest for glory. Upper management acts nice but it's all for personal gain to then turn it around on you. There's a huge cultural of martyrdom that allows them to excuse any problem as your own problem, because you're not sacrificing enough. I was told over 20x to stop feeling overwhelmed by doing the work of 3 people. They have a very strange structure where program directors of programs are overseeing OTHER program directors. This creates a ton of power struggle and conflict of interest. I believe they stole money from my program and blatantly ignored all polite inquiries about it, even when we were in a meeting together. Also, no one took the time to learn about my program and didn't care to. I have been screamed at countless times for being incompetent and not doing my job, despite doing exactly what they told me to do. Inevitably they would change their minds and deny ever having told me they wanted something done a certain way. I was constantly told that my work was subpar, even though my program was extremely successful and I felt I really made a difference in my client's lives.

Pros

The programs do amazing work! Every single program person has a servants heart. They truly care about people.

Cons

Administration is a mess. There was absolutely no flexibility in my position. I was told over and over that I was to be chained to my desk (and that, that exact statement was from the CEO herself). The position was extremely rigid and when I had a death in my family (my best friend) and a sick child the result was being let go for too many absences even though all but one were approved by my direct supervisor. I talked with HR who did their best to be helpful to me about my concerns. (And have no issue with how they handled things in fact I'm grateful for both of the HR staff) In my opinion my supervisor lacked perspective, grace and pretended to be on my side and then fired me for inconveniencing her with things that were out of my control.
