Pros

Excellent co-workers. Brilliant people to work with. Good hearted souls

Cons

Terrible Upper management! CEO - 25% - Seems to have the right heart but lacks execution capability. The company has not moved in the last 3-4 years. Jelli's promises of big projects never took off in the last 3 years. They are still doing the same stuff! The one very good thing about the CEO is he knows that employees are the real heroes and respects them. CTO - 0% - I'd give him negative 100% if possible. In my opinion does not lead the Technical side of things. Gets involved in small stuff and no long term vision at all. Just overlooks Project Management and Office Administration services. A CTO is supposed to have a vision and foresight for the next level of Technology challenges the company will be taking on and not Project Management and Office Administration! That's just sad. CPO (ChiefProduct Officer) - 25% - Brilliant when it comes to software and complete Zero when it comes to management of the team. Too much of a desk watcher in my mind. No communication with the team members, seems to be living in the 1920s where bosses would speak only to direct reports and not the team at all. People need to remind him to communicate to team members. Jelli's technical aspects will fall apart if he leaves. He could be a CTO as well as CPO for the technical stuff, but needs management training. The worst part is he thinks the team members are just another cog in the wheel and are easily replaceable by anyone else. This is usually made very clear by the CPO when someone is leaving and there are comments like we we've done great before you joined and we will continue doing well after you leave. CPO and Jelli's ideology is that raises comes only with a "Promotion" & that too is only for Management's favorites!!! So no raise even if you've been there 5 years. Not even a cost of living raise even though you are being given 5 star in your performance reviews. Performance review are a sham and do not really matter since you are not in the favorite list, you won't get promoted or a a raise. Being in the silicon valley Jelli's attitude is if you don't like it get out and find another job. I actually feel sad for my co-workers who are really smart, humble and hard working people. They are hiring for positions that are absolutely not necessary but not for the ones that are needed to do the keep the company running. For such a small company they have too many office Administration people and no one know what they do all day. When it comes to compensation, they pay 30-40% less than market rate. Especially if you go to another startup which is well-funded they will pay you much better. Benefits are just okay, nothing great! They won't even buy a farewell lunch when employees leave and the reason usually is its too expensive since people leave every so often. Too many people have been made Directors with no experience. Company runs on favoritism!. Company pays for them moving from one city to another saying "strategic move" but seems more like only a few favorite people get career advancement but the others are left to stick it out. Favorite people will keep getting promoted and the ones who really deserve it are left behind, just frustrated. If you communicate your grievances to the Upper management for being bullied by your manager you get fired and the manager is promoted to Director. Company outings and parties are not the best ones. They cheap out there too. Last Holiday party had no dinner. People were formally dressed as you'd expect them to be but the place was casual with games and sliders for food. office Management's complete failure was the word from all employees. But people were shocked to see that office management was given awards for that party. Hungry frustrated guests and here is your Award for that!! Congratulations! Culture & Values - Culture sucks the worst! and of course if you just suddenly give it to the office management. That is bound to happen. Lack of complete sense and experience.

Excellent Workplace, Poor Communication

Pros

Jelli does it's best to keep up with the Silicon Valley Lifestyle. They provide great benefits, decent salary matching and 401k. If you work in Engineering they provide great training, and it is an excellent place to work if you are in the Marketing or Engineering department. Most of the people there really care about the product and they have high standards for performance. Provided you get a good manager, you will no doubt excel in the environment if you have the work ethic and single-mindedness to excel in the job.

Cons

Management is new, particularly in their administrative, HR, and Accounting departments. Performance is discussed briefly and glossed over, and I saw many times in the company where people were let go who had no idea they were under performing because it was never explained to them or who were let go because management did not like them. In addition, the turnover for their administrative departments, namely Human Resources, Accounting, Office Management & Culture is extremely high, due to poor communication, high standards and a inability to communicate short-fallings. They refused to hire an in house accounting and human resources department during my time there and this did not help the short-fallings of the company in that area as well. In addition, their recent acquisition by IHeartMedia makes the future a bit foggy, due to IHeartMedia's bankruptcy and business dealings with the company being close-doored. The downgrades to employee lifestyle because of this merger are evident, but it was no doubt a smart move by management to be acquired, and it is understandable why the decision was made.

Horrible office culture, no ethics and dishonesty everywhere

Pros

Kitchen has a lot of snacks.

Cons

The upper level management does not care about employees, their career growth or even paying them fairly for all the hard work they put in. Hardly any appreciation either. The saddest thing is that if somebody does care, they either are asked to leave or keep their mouths shut. The reason for leaving this job was simply the dishonesty amongst upper level management that spreads downhill and affects an employee’s performance negatively. For the so called office culture, keeping a fridge full of snacks and washroom full of paper is not great office culture. Oh, and the management’s ideology, that comes from the pre-historic era. Micro-managers, keeping things hidden, office whispering (which is a part of great office culture apparently), an employee can take only so much without fair pay. Management prides itself on it's culture, yet it's rotten to the core. Favorites get all the glory, those that truly deserve it are left asking why.
