Pros

WFH if that's something you like... however no culture despite the company spending huge amount in marketing to look like the best place to work for

Cons

Huge amount of people doing nothing (hence the constant redundancies) No leadership, founders are ghosts, they never talk and you never see them Vision and strategy changes every day People working from everywhere and anywhere so little accountability to do anything Company burns a huge amount of cash and is going to go bankrupt soon

Pros

None any more. There was for a short period, a sense of optimism around the company globally. It has evaporated within the last 8 months. I have met a small handful of warm, creative individuals.

Cons

Wow, where do I begin? The start of 2022 was looking positive, until the Founders decided to push for hyper growth (they saw some success and became extensively greedy thinking they could open offices and onboard everywhere around the world). We were onboarding up to 70 people per week globally... RIDICULOUS. By June we had grown exponentially, and we could not keep up with the economic pressures so the founders decided to begin the first round of Layoffs. By the Autumn, there was a sense of instability and pensive apprehension for the future. Offices that were opened in international territories were shut down after 6 weeks. Come December, the founders and the board had decided to nearly HALVE the company and go back to being a 'small company' - telling the employees that they will need to wear different hats and work 2-3 job roles next year. One of the main values at Jellysmack is to 'Overperform'. You will NOT be rewarded for this. It becomes an expectation. Some employees who work in the Paris office are protected by HR for some mysterious reason resulting in the sacking of extremely talented technical individuals. If you work outside of France for Jellysmack, you will experience a second class feeling - as they will prioritise and protect French employees over you. Guys, it looks cool here from the outside. The branding is excellent blah blah. Stay away, don't waste your time.

Pros

This company is a good stepping stone into the world of tech/social media and they offer WeWork access for employees.

Cons

The company consists of young & energetic employees, many of which are lovely. The downside is we are all massively underpaid. You can earn more money working part-time in a supermarket than here. There is a huge imbalance in talent and experience. In my team, there was a mixture of people with lots of experience v.s some straight out of uni with barely any experience. All of them were paid the same amount despite having different workloads. When I interviewed for the role, I was promised job progression and a pay increase. This never transpired. Managers are clueless about how progression can work, there is no structure for rewarding people and there is ZERO transparency around salary benchmarks. It's all false promises. The company grew so fast in my time there, to the point where 20 new staff were joining every day. They got hungry for growth and over-hired. Last week they sent out a company-wide email saying they had to let go 8% of the staff. HR had no clue this was happening, and weren't able to provide any security of information. On a surface level, the company looks great, but the CEOs do not understand how to run a company. There is no regard for the rising living costs and hard work. The icing on the cake is the tacky monthly meetings where they expect all the staff to celebrate the company's big wins and growth. They tell us that our hard work is the reason the company is growing so fast, yet they do not reward us. If you've done really well, you may get lucky and win a pair of airpods, but that doesn't include any of the Community Managers, just editors. Some people were lucky enough to receive Xmas gifts too, but many of us are still waiting for ours. Lastly, the company try their best to appear diverse and inclusive by creating slack channels for minorities and groups. A group for women in tech was created with the promise we could attend events and take courses to grow in the field but nothing came of this. I asked them if they could confirm there was no gender pay gap, and the seniors went silent. I was told this was get looked into, but of course it never did. There is so much potential for Jellysmack, but they don't seem to value the talent they have in their staff.
