Pros

4-day work week Fridays and Jewish holidays off Good health insurance and retirment plan

Cons

Siloed departments, management is not interested in anyone other than board members and other executives. HR cannot maintain employees for more than a few months (!!) Unrealistic expectations from new employees or when assigning additional responsibilities - no pay raise, no mentorship or training. Passive-aggressive reactions to mistake, yet no interest in providing guidance.

Pros

-Off on Fridays and all Jewish Holidays -Holiday Break -Sweet Colleagues -Affordable Healthcare

Cons

If you are young in your career, looking to advance in your career, looking to make more money, or looking to provide substantial improvement at an organization - avoid at all costs. I’ve worked for countless for and non-profits, including Jewish organizations and have never seen such a disaster of a company. I could go on, but I would just say to avoid unless you are looking for a low paying job before you retire.

Pros

Nice community and wonderful academics.

Cons

Women get paid less than men. There have been only 2 COLA raises in the last 8 years. There's money for lots of things but not keeping employees current. benefits are sub-par, the leadership is disconnected and supervision is almost non-existent. You never know if your work is valued by the Dean. Emails from HR and others aren't answered so it feels like there is no where to turn for help.
