Pros

Close to drive if you live in the east bay. Quiet area. You don’t have to pay to park. No union, no transparent pay scheme.

Cons

Lower pay for the bay. Confused management. Cutting employee benefits, bloating management. Horrible cafeteria food. Terrible communication and organization in Human Resources. You can look forward to making calls leaving messages and never hearing back. They will also decide randomly to pay your state or federal taxes and then blame you.

John Muir Health Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate you bringing to our attention what you enjoy about working at John Muir Health, as well as improvements you would like to see. We are confident that our RN salary range is competitive with the market for the Bay Area, including Oakland and San Francisco, and that our benefit package continues to be a strong and substantial addition to our employee’s overall compensation package. The only change to our benefits package in 2018 was in the timing of our 403b employee matching. Because JMH is dedicated to high reliability, our leadership team is actively engaged in continual learning and development. Our newly launched Leadership Academy is a testament to this endeavor. Our Human Resources Department is comprised of a team of seasoned, dedicated professionals who have a constant presence across all of our campuses and sites. All phone calls that come into HR are tracked and triaged for follow-up. We welcome the opportunity to speak with our employees to assist where we can. Additionally, our Payroll Department has a full staff of knowledgeable professionals who are ready and willing to assist all staff with their payroll questions, by phone or email.

Pros

Good benefits, compensation is good, services local community, level II trauma center

Cons

Due to poor business decisions, JMH is currently twirling around the proverbial drain. In an attempt to stay competitive, JMH is reducing worker bee staff at an alarming and unhealthy rate. They just outsourced their lab services and terminated over 500 employees in one shot. Their IT department has been downsized significantly. The workers that remain are burnt out, expected to perform the work of 2-3 employees. They are offering (forcing for some) a voluntary resignation package in efforts to stay "competitive". This "restructure" is targeting many older staff members, who may find it difficult to find another source of income at their age.
