Pros

Jump is a truly unique organization. A boutique consultancy that specializes in creating future focused strategies for Fortune 500 companies, working with their leadership to activate their corporate purpose and values and helping them navigate through times of volatility and uncertainty.

Cons

Jump has a very unique corporate culture that provides their employees the tarmac from which to fly, learn, grow and cultivate their skills. Wonderful for those who possess an entrepreneurial spirit.

Pros

I feel like I am still learning new things and expanding my ability to do this work every day. I also think the work we are doing now is getting increasingly impactful: Building new recycling ecosystems, reimagining end of life healthcare, expanding financial access. It's fun to get to work on hard problems and build solutions that make it so that everyone can win (companies and society). And getting to work on those problems with folks who are deeply passionate, incredibly interesting, and unique (and weird) is really fun. I also feel like I can use all the parts of my background rather than having to fit myself into a box.

Cons

I put as a pro that I feel like I'm learning every day. That sounds nice in a review, but in reality it can also feel very confronting. It means constantly trying things that don't work, and sometimes feeling quite bad about that failure. Regardless of the cultural tools in place, learning sometimes is really challenging and confronting. And this company is definitely focused on learning. There are a lot of reviews here about hours. I think many of those (minus the ones that use crazy superlatives) are fair. It is a lot of work. But for me personally, I don't mind it as much . . .I feel like that comes with the type of problems we get to solve and the level of advisory. When you are grinding at a company for hours it can really suck (and there is a bit of that sometimes) but more often the hours are put toward solving real, important problems that will make an impact on the world.

Pros

I've had the opportunity to own a wide range of work over the time I've been here. I've been a strategist, responsible for studying culture and inventing new products and business models. I've been a lead on engagements, guiding and developing newer Jumpsters and our clients through the launch of new ventures. I've led functions for Jump, helping us to improve and grow. If there's one thing that the people who most enjoy their time at Jump have in common, it's that they want to be constantly on the edge of discovery. They’re learners. They get up and try to live out their growth mindset every day. In the last day, I’ve learned: How to build a differentiated positioning for a B2B partnership strategy. How to present the value of a multi-stakeholder orientation to your investors and board. In the last week, I’ve learned: How to build a better framework for M&A by converging research, design and finance. How to advise a CEO on leading their company through the constant flow of change. In the last month, I’ve learned: How to approach transformation for organizations with 100+ years of heritage. How to overcome the most frequent mistakes of innovation teams. In the last year, I’ve learned: How to scale the adoption of a new sales system. How to negotiate complex contracts and win. This type of learning and development is what we try to make Jump built for. And even though I've been at it for a while, I'm still constantly finding myself on my learning edge.

Cons

At the organizational level, we're better at discovering new answers and finding new paths than constantly replicating formalized processes. That's great for the work we're engaged on, and it's what makes that work so fun and interesting. But it makes it more challenging to stay focused and aligned on the strategies and systems that functions like marketing and sales tend to thrive on.
