Micromanaging, cliquey

Pros

1. Free lunch (however the cost of a one-way tube ticket is more than their lunch anyway), a way for them to get people in the office so they can micromanage 2. Hybrid working (again many companies now offer this, nothing special) 3. Unlimited holidays (managers don’t want you to take more, you are expected to work longer hours to compensate for this, people often log on while on their annual leaves)

Cons

1. Bullying managers who micromanage, book in meetings after working hours without consulting employees, disrespectful 2. Managers with big egos and who are patronising 3. Cliquey, if your face fits, not everyone gets “invited” 4. Firing people without reason - many people just disappear one day without any explanation of where they have gone 5. Monthly probation reviews every month for the first 3 months to put high pressure on new hires just after joining - if you don’t pass so they can discard you (if you currently have a stable job this is not worth the risk) 6. Overtime and long hours - this is celebrated, they encourage people to work in the evenings and at weekends because you get “unlimited holidays”. People who work outside of their normal hours are praised at the company weekly meeting. 7. Office not very central, in a rough area in Camden, I almost got mugged going home from work one day. Not very safe when it’s winter and dark. 8. Pay is below market 9. HR hiring team is biased - compared to other companies in London, majority of their hires are young, white, male. Lack of diversity.

JustPark Response

Thank you for taking the time to review JustPark. We’re sorry to hear that this was your JustPark experience. We’d like to take some time to address some of the concerns you raised. We pride ourselves on our company culture, as shown in our positive score here on Glassdoor, nevertheless we were sad to read this post and felt compelled to address your points: -We place trust in our employees to manage their time and diaries effectively. We have a flexible working approach and expect our employees to develop relationships with their line managers and peers to be able to ask for support if required. - We hold weekly HR drop in sessions and give employees an opportunity to raise their concerns. These sessions are confidential and if an issue is raised, our People team deal with these with the utmost professionalism and confidentiality. -All businesses use the probation period to ensure the employee is a good fit for the role, but it is also for the employee too. To give the employee the very best chance of success in not just their probation period, but also their career at JustPark, we conduct regular check ins. This ensures the employee and JustPark can work together on the desired outcome: Probation is passed and you become a part of the JustPark team. We recognise there can be a lot to learn during this period so we want to ensure employees are getting the support they need to be successful. It is expensive to hire new employees - so the best outcome for JustPark is that the person we identified as being the best fit for the role - passes probation and stays with us for a long time. -Our office is in Camden, which is pretty central and served well by multiple transport options from across London - We also allow flexible working. The office is a large well maintained space in a managed building with security - we’re sorry you had a bad experience outside of the office; but that is not unique to Camden. -Our salaries are benchmarked every year against at least two independent sources. We hold annual pay reviews to realign pay based on this information and performance. Plus this is only part of the package - all our roles benefit from a stock options package plus a host of other benefits including: Free chef cooked lunch on site everyday, private healthcare and life assurance to name a few. This year we also awarded a £1,000 Cost of Living bonus to employees most likely to be affected by rising prices and inflation throughout 2023. -To respond to your point about diversity, we are really proud that from Jan 22 - Jan 23, 43% of our hires were women, and 36% of our hires were candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. We review these figures regularly and hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards. Finally, we routinely hold exit interviews for employees that leave JustPark and would love to have addressed these concerns with you in person. If you would like to chat again, we would absolutely love to hear from you - we always embrace the opportunity to grow and improve our employee experience.

Pros

Initially a lovely team atmosphere. The company successfully sells employees and customers on a dream environment and future. And of course Julie (the office chef) and her wonderful food.

Cons

It's all rhetoric. When facing even mild adversity the company reverts to type and values its people very little.

Pros

The only pro was the free lunch, and some colleagues were nice and friendly, other than that it was literally the worst place I have ever been in my life.

Cons

This was easily the worst most disgusting, degrading, and miserable job I have ever had. A complete waste of my time. Never in my life had someone talked to me in a condescending way and bullied like at JustPark. I was micromanaged from day one - constant check ins, no trust at all. Given unrealistic deadlines and targets which were unachievable - set up to fail, expected to work outside normal hours. Constant moving of goal posts when it comes to tasks and also how your performance is measured. Incompetent management with little or no knowledge about the industry apart from technical skills. Management lied about their subordinate's performance to preserve their egos. JustPark is just a start up, which means many flaws in its internal processes and hired the wrong people to be middle managers, as a result some people misuse their power. JustPark is only recommended if you are unable to find a job elsewhere and desperate, and this is the only offer you can get.
