Pros

I had never worked in an office based environment prior to this position. The team are lovely and welcoming. Yang and Alex allow flexible working which is fantastic. I have gained lots of experience and knowledge in a short space of time.

Cons

This is a fast paced start up. Keeping up can feel challenging at times which takes you out of your comfort zone, always communicate with the team and they will always support you.

Pros

- The founders will be pleased as soon you meet their requirements, and maybe give you some space and invite you to events to help in their promotion, where you will eat for free and meet entrepreneurial people. - Due to the small size of the team and lack of experience, they encourage interns and employees to grow. It means each person has to handle as many different tasks as possible but often without effective guidance and help. - Flexible working because the founders usually arrive late at the office and allow you to work from home when you feel sick. - They plan dinners or drinks to motivate the team but always late after work. Making the employee and intern work a couple of extra hours while all wait to leave.

Cons

JustWears is a startup led by a couple named Yang Liu and Alex Walsh, who hardly understand privacy vs professionalism. As an employee, you will often find yourself in situations that are uncomfortable and embarrassing like their signature couple fights. Facing the public, clients and investors they sell the company as an innovative and fast-growing startup with excellent management skills based on their past professional experience. But this cannot be further from the truth as their management is the worst I have ever had the misfortune to witness. From the product care (packaging products anywhere), delays in shipping to the customer, to the worst of them all, poor team management. They have no idea how to manage people or projects, and nothing ever seems to be their fault as they always find someone else to be the scapegoat. Abusing of a tiring micro-managing system that only generates anxiety and stress. The founders promise freedom by saying how each person is responsible to manage one's own work and growth. This way if someone does not meet their unrealistic goals, they have an excuse to overexploit him. Anyone from the unpaid interns to full-time staff who are subject to work overtime for free, violating the staff free time such as lunch breaks and late to the evening, or sending you texts and emails 24/7. They expect you to be always available for the company no matter what you are doing with your own life, even sick leaves. Your problems are not their problems, you must find a solution to keep your seat and be labelled as smart.

Pros

This is my first real experience in the tech startups in London and I am really thankful to have the opportunity to be involved in so much more than my job truly entailed. I joined the team at a very early stage and am lucky to be part of this fast-growing journey. There are lots of growth opportunities and it is definitely a pleasure to come to work every day. The team here is lean but everyone is extremely smart, hardworking and really cares about the values the business is building. The founding team puts lots of effort to make sure that everyone has their say across everything from product development, customer interaction to the direction of the business. I appreciate the transparency Yang has shown across the team and to the customers. She leads weekly all-hands meetings to share company strategy, performance, and challenges. Due to the early stage the business is at now, a structure can be limited. but everyone here has input with building structure, processes, and best practices. The leadership team openly welcomes constructive feedback.

Cons

Just like every early-stage startup, there are plenty of opportunities provided to you to learn and grow. It's also not easy all of the times. If you are not a go-getter who wants to get their hands dirty, this is definitely not a place for you.
