Pros

In the past 2 years I can’t think of much except: Discounts and 85% of my co workers were amazing.

Cons

*This is speaking from a front of house employee who was at this company for over a decade. This place has gone downhill over the past 2 years. They call themselves “Daymakers” but are they really? When I started 10 years ago there was a professional standard set, there was structure, it wasn’t a toxic hostile work environment that I had endured the last 6 months of my time there. That all has fallen by the wayside. I expect a “high end salon” to act like a high end salon. They pride themselves on favoritism over professionalism and loyalty. If you work here you will be rewarded for doing the bare minimum. You can hide downstairs for hours during the holidays rush while loyal hardworking employees pick up the slack, you can make tik toks in the middle of checking out guests, you really don’t even need to check out guests, you can casually have your unprofessional conversations in front of them. while yet again your hardworking employees do it all, you don’t even have to lift a finger.. you just have to be over whelmingly fake to be successful here. If you do not fit the JUUT mold anymore, you will be miserable until they bully you out or retaliate against you. Management/ upper management are very much a bunch of hypocrites. Someone will get “talked to” about behaviors while other employees who do the same things (or even the managers themselves) get away with it. There is no structure. At some point you do not receive anymore raises due to be capped out. I was stuck making the same amount for the last 3 years but was expected to do more. Heed my warning and all the other low rated reviews of this place, it’s fine until it’s not fine anymore, it’s not worth your putting your mental health at risk. I have a ton to say about working here, but I know Glassdoor would never approve it

Pros

- The discounts are really great - trauma bonded friendships. - lots of seasoned employees that will validate the weirdness and try to teach you how to be safe.

Cons

- Favoritism is common, with promotions and opportunities often based on personal relationships rather than merit. - There is a noticeable lack of clear HR policies or procedures, leading to inconsistent handling of issues. - this includes leadership using ableist, racist, ageist, and sexist language without consequence. - Dress code enforcement can feel overly focused on physical appearance, rather than professionalism. - Limited training and service offerings for clients with textured hair or those from diverse backgrounds: - Services such as silk presses, braiding, or twists are not advertised or supported. - Staff often make assumptions about headscarf or hijab-wearing clients, defaulting them to private rooms or panicking. - Workplace gossip is prevalent and can create a toxic environment. - The training program can be demoralizing and lacks psychological safety. - Some educators have shown up smelling of marijuana, which undermines professionalism. - Leadership structure is questionable — it’s not uncommon for salon managers to be newly hired and lacking in emotional maturity or experience. - Bathrooms and break rooms are poorly maintained and often unhygienic in various salons. - Excessive dust and poor HVAC maintenance, especially around stylist stations, can be embarrassing and unhygienic in various salons.
