Pros

This is one of the best shops to work for in town. Solid product, capable reporters, knowledgeable writers/producers. A perfect example of what local news should be.

Cons

They're owned by Disney, which comes with perks, but also some of the red tape that large companies have. There were a lot of inefficient processes. When asked why we do it that way, the answer was usually "that's the way we've always done it."

Not the Happiest Place on Earth

Pros

Decent medical and dental benefits. What's left of the union workforce earns a pension check along with the 401K. Food trucks nearby.

Cons

Minimum security prison is more fun. The managers act like prison guards. Job satisfaction is considered a perk to the select few. Mid-level managers are too terrified to innovate. Pay is not even close to what you could make on the outside. As soon as the top of the pyramid get their kids through college this dinosaur industry will take it's last breath.

Pros

Salaries are almost competitive with tech industry professionals, but without the 80 hour work weeks. 401K & full corporate benefits for full-time employees.

Cons

A declining market means constant budget tightening and few opportunities for advancement. Management is uninspiring and top-down - systemically and as individuals. Some are downright hostile to employees.
