Pros

Collegial atmosphere. Lots of training and opportunities to learn. Lots of team building types of activities. Very smart people work there

Cons

Very hectic pace making it difficult at times to give 100% to any specific project--pulled in too many directions. Scope creep by clients on many projects (management reluctant to ever push-back on client requests). Lots of smart people work there, BUT, if they choose to leave the company, they are verbally bashed by management.

Thank you for your review. We are working to leverage external resources to better manage workflows during the busier times. During quieter times, employees are busy working on their developmental action plans.

Pros

I love working at KJT because of our culture. People are definitely here to work hard (and aren't afraid to do so), but are also extremely nice. Leadership encourages idea-sharing and encourages others to facilitate positive change within the organization. There is value placed on mental wellness and finding time to connect with each other despite the ebbs and flows of the business. Flexible working arrangements mean your manager isn't breathing down your neck to make sure you're at your seat, and hybrid or remote work (both within Rochester and out of state) has become our norm. CEO is very "present," down-to-earth, and genuinely wants to do everything she can to keep employees engaged.

Cons

The business has grown so quickly that the delivery teams have had to work at an unsustainable pace. Leadership is aware of this, and has been actively working to recruit additional staff and leverage external resources to support the growth. Some systems and processes require maturity (ex. manual processes should be automated to save time) but this is all in the works. Despite the challenges, our culture is strong enough (in my mind) to make working here a worthwhile endeavor; I have faith in our leadership and CEO and know that in time challenges are going to be resolved.

Pros

I’ve worked here for many years and I’m still trying to figure out what the “secret sauce” is to KJT’s positive and progressive culture. Is it because we’re a 100% employee owned company? Could be. Everyone is just so invested in the company’s growth when you have a share of the pie. Is it because we don’t give AF where you work as long as you’re getting your job done? Maybe. In a bizarre way, I feel more connected to my remote peers since COVID hit. Is it because people actually get work life balance here? Potentially. Sure, there are days when you have to put in the hours, but for the most part people actually sign off at 5. Is it because your manager/higher ups always has your back? This is pretty underrated, but I’ve never been a situation where I felt abandoned here. Someone always has your back. Is it the progressive “other things” on offer? They contribute, for sure. E.g., mental health initiatives, wellness committee events, unlimited PTO, getting Juneteenth off, etc. I could go on, but something I’ve noticed is that KJT always strives to improve itself and it isn’t afraid to make big changes in order to do so. It’s probably all the things above combined to make this place one of the best kept secrets in the industry.

Cons

I’m going to be completely blunt here. I don’t think KJT can necessarily compete on wages against bigger firms that can seemingly print money. I get paid decent but it’s slightly less than my colleagues at bigger companies. But I’m also not working crazy hours and sacrificing nights and weekends like they are. Everyone has a different prerogative. For me, the time you get back to spend with family and friends is worth more than those extra $$.
