Pros

Half day Fridays in the summer (firm gives you back 4 hours a week in the summer after you end up giving them 15-30 additional hours over 40 per week during the busy season). If your an intern they will hire you full time without a question. It take a lot for KLR to fire an associate that came up through the intern program.

Cons

This firm is entirely ran from the providence office. Boston and Waltham are satellite offices with all the main partners and managers in providence. Partners and managers do not talk to each other so seniors at KLR literally have a dozen bosses that all expect their work done as soon as possible. Firm is trying to grow too fast without worrying about the growing pains. They will tell you the hours are flexible and the work/life balance is great but that is a joke. They seem to be more interested in perceptions of providence partners seeing you in early in the morning and stay late at night instead of treating you like a professional and judge your performance based on the work you actually do. The it department is a joke as well. Issues everyday. Don't work at KLR unless you want to get the workload of a big four without the recognition of working on public companies.

Pros

Some decent clients. Good learning experience. Free parking.

Cons

The cohesiveness of this firm is non-existent. Everyone is out for themselves. The cliques rule the firm and if you are not in one, then you won't make it far. People are advanced not on their merit, but on who they are rubbing elbows with. The office is outdated and the atmosphere is an old boys' club.

Low morale, very cliquey

Pros

Half-day Fridays in the summer No one pays attention to when people come and go- so if you want a flexible schedule, this is your place.

Cons

The Providence is office rules the company and is very cliquey, including the HR Dept. There is no room for growth unless you are a part of the cliques and it will take years to get there. The health insurance is cost-prohibitive to everyone. If they spent less on tacky things like cake days and appreciation chocolates, maybe they could afford to offer a better plan. They don't take feedback and when you offer it unsolicited it goes unheard and unacted upon. There is not an equal workload balance and this causes most people to have a very low morale in tax. Also, tax season you are required to work a minimum of 70 hours per week, but are strongly encouraged to work many more.
