Pros

It can provide a work-life balance. Friendly employees. Great exposure and experience to university and outside stakeholders. Laid-back environment. Decent benefits.

Cons

This is a static and generic organization. Very conservative and hierarchical where there is no room for innovation or growth. Organization lacks in providing transparency about vision and strategy. IT systems and "their way" to do things are extremely archaic. The term "going above and beyond" sounds foreign for several employees, probably because the current environment: 1) no room or support for professional development, 2) no incentives or rewards for high performing and committed employees, 3) high turnover rate, 4) some managers struggle leading. Too many internal small committees that adds distraction instead of adding value.

Pros

Most people working here have been employed here for decades. Good facility to work in. Seemingly industry equivalent pay standards. Seemingly Good happy colleagues.

Cons

I was surprised to see no new or intermediate employees. Archaic and Old principles of management. Obsolete systems and a promise to move to a newer technology which never materialized. The organization tried to employ me most likely for a short term during the active giving season. Since the Annual giving was to stop, management started to behave strangely. Supervisors since they are old want employees on the premises all the time and do not trust them to complete tasks on their own.

Pros

The benefits are outstanding and most of the people there are quite friendly. The office is clean and tidy and they seem to want employee feedback about ways to improve the work environment.

Cons

Management needs to reassess some of their VP positions. Upper management needs to listen to the lower level employees and listen to what they have to say about their supervisors - and to not just listen but do something about it. Some people are NOT meant to be supervisors!
