1. Coming from a matured setup, this is a place where there is absolutely no process both at engineering level and HR level. Anything that is painful is immediately isolated and compartmentalized leaving no space for communication / knowledge retention. Sitting in an engineering team , I have always struggled to know about the releases (both on the functionality and purpose).
2. This is one funniest setup where Managers are identified from the engineering teams based on ONLY (a) extreme loyal behavior and obliging nature to the directors / sr. management (b) Political and hopeless for the teams below
3. Sr. Management always come up with this policy of taking only managers to meetings and offerings (in short anything demands attention) leaving the entire engineering team down with no clue in hindsight beyond the rigid faces of the managers
4. Even though firing (atleast goes planned) every year, this creates alot of confusion, fear and agony in the minds creating a very defensive and secretive culture of no hope if you aspire to grow and own alot of initiatives
5. Every policy is determined (tweaked, applied and modified) only by the managers and HR is only a spectator in this loop
6. No idea or understanding on how this mad rush of compromises and false reports from offshore to onshore - finally matches the expectations of the customer. We even voted for more customer site visits but no one on those lines had travelled in my team.
6. No training or knowledge sharing sessions planned anywhere in the recent times among the teams
7. Everyone part of this engineering setup is very busy defending their turf - least bothered about the final state of the application / service we are offering
8. Product Owners (Requirements Point of Contact) behave as GODs above all of us with no courtesy to understand the pains we are going through.
9. Quality in this floor has multiple (but all wrong) meanings leaving Scrum teams to practice alot of short cuts and hide the truth with the management. Thanks to the offshore leaders here who help us in hiding the truth from onsite Senior Management.
10. Favouritism - the unspoken word wanders in this place right from Work From Home, less hours at work, more leaves, onsite travel and till promotions. I wish TALENT in right sense can also get counted.
11. A recent Hackathon conducted (if closely observed) was a symptom of how much lack of communication, lack of motivation, lack of purpose, lack of management vision etc was exhibited. Days of Carrot and Stick rewards are gone. Please try something else!
12. Why hire employees when you want to fire just like that? I dont know how it goes with an employee who has lost the job but my entire Scrum team as such was shaken up for sometime creating alot of disturbances
13. Close to release dates are like hell broke lose where similar to bringing large amount of followers (through incentives without purpose) for political gathering, we too get carried away through offshore leaders bullying & free meals for many weekends without any aim / clue
