I have been working at Kaman Distribution full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been able to gained professional experience.

    Cons

After a year of a divestiture, there is nothing positive to highlight: lack of leadership, terrible compensation, high turnover, lack of communication from executive and leadership team, antiquated technology, low employee experience, low employee engagement, and high employees morale. Clear message: leadership does not care about employees.

I have been working at Kaman Distribution full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It is hard to define pros and cons. Work/life balance is descent.

    Cons

Sorry Kaman....con list is long. This is a very unorganized company, extremely behind in technology. Not employee fault, but upper management. There is almost no advancement opportunity. People are stuck in the same position for decades. How's that positive. No matter how hard one tries to be a team player hard worker...at the end the slap lands on your face. They simply don't care. If you need a better pay, are looking for advancement and being able to get recognition for hard work....look elsewhere. Employee moral very low, uncertainty at all levels.

I have been working at Kaman Distribution full-time

    Pros

Now that the Kaman Distribution is separated from Kaman Aerospace, there is an expectation that we can achieve much more than ever before. While some staff are transferring over from Kaman Aerospace, we are also hiring many new people that can help instill a new DNA into Kaman Distribution. We now have the ability to create a new workplace environment and corporate identity. In addition, we are making great strides in adopting the latest technology; from cloud computing to eCommerce and to IoT (Internet of Things.) This is an exciting time to be at Kaman Distribution as we also look to grow with M&A and new sales avenues. While we operate as a billion-plus company, the senior management team is very approachable. Co-workers are a joy to work with. From my seat, there is very little of the typical corporate jockeying and my peers are all very respectful and accepting of my strategy and opinions.

    Cons

Since Kaman Distribution was part of Kaman Aerospace, we were very limited in the technology we could utilize as part of our computer network. For example cloud computing was frowned upon. Due to this, there are some parts of our technology and marketing stack that need to be updated. In addition, with budget constants, the organization ran very lean. So more than a few folks are wearing multiple hats. (Though this could be translated as a Pro.) The organization is fairly flat so HR will need to work harder developing a structure that controls expenses while providing advancement opportunities. A cafeteria or healthier vending options would be nice.

I have been working at Kaman Distribution full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great place to learn In general, great people to work with Benefits are ok; 401k match is good, Health benefits are high, but it is expected

    Cons

Too much of an Operational Company; Not Sales Driven Stop putting handcuffs on sales people and charging them for every overhead cost. Some management cares, however, they can do little to improve morale, processes, or procedures. Other management is bidding time until retirement. Get rid of the dead weight. Promote the people who care. Toxic work environment with Sales vs. Operations and it is getting worse. Engineered Solutions Group is a joke. How many projects can you possibly screw up before changes are made? People are ready to leave; if people can find the right opportunity, they will be gone.

I worked at Kaman Distribution full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great support from immediate management and inside sales people.

    Cons

Grand ideas from middle and upper management with disastrous implementation. Yearly forecasts are dictated to sales teams with no real regard for honest forecasts form the actual sales people. Absolutely no synergy between the distribution team and the fluid power team. Endless mandatory webinars, self evaluations, goal setting, useless HR training, and corporate intrusion on a continual basis.
