At the time I left CIO was very risk averse, and for a company of it's nature (technology sector) to be so unwilling to try new things/embrace change was hugely frustrating. Everything had to be carefully and very slowly weighed and thought out before dipping toes into new technologies (EG only started fully embracing cloud internally around 2017/2018). Unattainable and impossible KPIs for business unit leads. Very poor bonus structures.
