Pros

Fantastic co-workers, great benefits, work from home opportunity, being apart of an industry that is rapidly growing, fast paced and they make you feel important. The values spoke to me. Everyone is pleasant to work with and very hardworking. Dynamic and challenging work, and great relationships formed with property managers around the nation. This company was rapid growing and it was exciting to complete tasks and build together a beautiful space for the guests. They really encouraged feedback and to take lead on internal projects to improve processes

Cons

Unfortunately, in the world of startups, there is very little clarity in expectations. I was immediately thrown into a project which took a little longer to complete than initially expected, especially without training or understanding deliverables. Training was all over the place in my department. The training structure wasted valuable time - I traveled for training, and was shown only 1 task-oriented process that I could have learned to do on my own. -This company has an opportunity to learn and improve from the past, really care for your employees - work was piled on without prioritizing, setting unrealistic expectations. -Long days - on the clock and pinged 24/7, no designated work/life balance, nor encouragement to keep a balance. -Everyone is expected to have an answer for "Are you excited about Kasa" at all times. Maybe you’re having a bad day personally so it’s hard to be excited, yet you’re still expected to be oozing enthusiasm for even the most mundane data entry tasks. -No clear priorities were given. Not everything can be a priority - when everything is expected to be a priority, nothing is a priority. The work is always shifting from task to task, with no time for employee development nor growth. -When you’re told “not to worry” about a specific project or task, you definitely should. “Do not worry” to me means it goes to the bottom my my task list, below everything else. But I would be asked about where I was in those tasks from another supervisor and asked why I didn’t finish them, and it was only because I was working diligently to complete what I felt to be the biggest priorities.

Thank you for the honest feedback. We're glad you had the opportunity to experience our fast growth, create positive relationships with property managers nationwide, and worked alongside hardworking and passionate team members. That said, we can always do better, and appreciate you addressing your concerns about training, expectation setting, and work/life balance during a period of rapid growth. We certainly do not intend for this growth to come at the cost of our employees' happiness. We have reviewed this feedback internally and will continue making many adjustments to our training and operations. Our goal is to ensure that Kasa team members feel supported throughout their career and we value feedback that helps us improve. If you have any additional suggestions or questions please reach out to us at PeopleOpsTeam@kasa.com.

Layoffs underway. No respect.

Pros

I would have given more stars in the past, but I'm sad about the way things have ended. I loved my team, this job and this company, and can't believe it ended this way. Teamwork here was great until recently.

Cons

Kasa spent the latest round of funding really fast, and have started quietly laying people off while not calling it layoffs and pretending it's not happening. Probably so investors don't get freaked out. Company travel is banned through the end of the year.  The entire recruiting team got fired even after being promised that their jobs were safe. Some people got called in under the guise of it being reviews season, and then they got fired going into what they thought was their annual evaluation. It's sneaky and awful.  I'm shocked to have lost my job with no history of write ups or any kind of corrections or problems. There is no loyalty here. The flashy offices are using up resources and the top 5 or 6 people in command are still making a ton of money despite not hitting their numbers. The whole situation sucks.

Thank you for your feedback. The economic outlook of our company is strong and will remain strong as we continue to adjust operations and priorities based on shifts in the market. With the planned reduction of hiring, some members of the recruiting team were offered the option to pursue redeployment into another role at Kasa or take a severance agreement while other talent acquisition team members have been redirected to projects and hiring for our highest impact roles. As consistent with our semi-annual performance review cycle, other team members were dismissed based on factors that included performance and alignment to future business operations. We are continuously looking at opportunities to improve how we evaluate and communicate performance year round, and have recently implemented mechanisms to provide feedback more frequently to avoid any element of surprise during the performance review cycle. While impacting someone's job is never an easy decision, we have a responsibility to our current employees, guests, partners, and investors to make decisions that are best for the long-term viability of our company. These decisions have extended into other areas of our operations as well including recent updates to our travel policies to reduce overall travel expenses and a more rigorous approval process to add additional headcount. We wholeheartedly believe in fearless feedback and take the information shared here quite seriously. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact us at HR@kasa.com.

Sinking Ship

Business outlook

Pros

Excellent benefits package Excellent pay

Cons

* 2 large layoffs in less than a year, and after each layoff there were promises that everything is fine and the company has plenty of "run way" to right it's course. It is not fine. The headwinds against STRs are strong and Kasa appears completely unprepared to manage them. People are actively job searching to escape the sinking ship. * Additionally there are a lot of egos at the managerial level. Individuals placed in management positions because they are good at their jobs, not because they are good at managing people. Many managers are young with little to no experience in managing people and they lack the perspective and maturity to emotionally connect with others that may not share the same lived experience or values as them. This creates an atmosphere of fear and shame. * There was an entire 10 minute conversation during an all-hands meeting, which is attended by every person in the company from maintenance techs to the C-suites executives, about which Ivy League school certain VPs attended and which one is better. It was elitist and out-of-touch with the fact Kasa is a company that makes beds and cleans toilets. * There is not a clear path of growth for those who start in entry-level positions in operations. *High turnover at the entry-level operations positions
