Pros

Kate Somerville is overall a wonderful brand: strong product range and hard-working employees.

Cons

Upper management is completely riddled with key players playing favorites and engaging in politics. The company is led by self-serving individuals who’re more interested in self-gain and visibility versus moving towards a common goal. There’s nothing honorable in being a jealous, emotional, insecure employee who’s eager to build a case against fellow colleagues, point fingers, and take them down. If you’re willing to bend over backwards to cover your own behind and throw others under the bus, then this is the place for you! They'll smile to your face and say the opposite behind your back.

Pros

Good location, in the heart of Beverly Hills.

Cons

Salaries do not match the brand image and corporate location. Considers themselves 'prestige' but pay their employees much lower than market value. If you want to further your career, do not work here. Promotions are given to a select few who like to go directly to the CEO to complain and whine. No employee development whatsoever. Likes to recruit outside talent, but fail to grow their employees who have been at the company for many years. No real perks or benefits than the standard health insurance and 10 vacation days/year. No company lunches EVER and holiday parties stopped after 2013. Hopefully management becomes better in a few years but who knows how long that will take. Also, corporate office is way too small maybe around 40 employees max, which leads to TOO MUCH GOSSIP. Very negative corporate culture and emotionally/mentally exhausting to keep up. The morale in this office is depressing. The employee turnover has been extremely high these past few years, and you know it's bad when upper management starts leaving and fails to be replaced.

Thanks for the feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience, and are always looking for ways to improve our company culture. As we’ve doubled in size over the last 4 years, it is incredibly important to us to foster an environment of creativity, open communication, competitive salary and personal development & growth. We also strive to offer employees the best benefits as possible, such as deeply discounted skincare products & treatments at the Kate Somerville Clinic on Melrose Place, opportunities to test new beauty products, summer Fridays and a 401K plan with matching, in addition to great healthcare coverage, paid time off and more.

TOXIC is an understatement

Pros

Deep employee discounts Used to have some smart/nice coworkers(unfortunately mostly gone now and replaced by people without the skills or experiences with less pay, which make my and many people's job extremely difficult that now you are working with lots of people who doesn't really know what they are doing but somehow given the job) Descent 401K Descent health insurance options

Cons

Increasing TOXIC working environment from already TOXIC environment, it's impressive how there's no group lawsuits brought to them in my opinion. CEO is all PR PR PR, no real product development, no valuing employees. Just someone who's having midlife/identity crisis and abandoning the brand core value completely. All he cares about is influencers, not good quality products which is what made us a good brand. Sadly no more. No planing, or the plans that do even matter because they can change anytime for no real rhyme or reason Upper managements goal and only goal is to please Unilever
