Pros

They have a nice office and seem to attract nice people.

Cons

You can't trust anyone at this company, especially management. 2 weeks after I started at the company, members of my team had emotional break downs in private meetings. There was real crying and real tears and a lot complaining about bad company treatment by the same people who had previously told me during the job interview that they were happy to be the company. Originally I had believed I had made the right choice starting at this company only to find out that my colleagues had to take 2 week "mental health" breaks only return to the company visibility upset to be back at work. In reality these were 2 week breaks in which my colleagues had been searching for new jobs and they had returned to work encouraging team members to find new jobs. The phrase "I hate this company" was uttered under their breath often as long as managers were not within hearing range, and I was still within my first 4 months working at the company. I later found out that management had singled out the team I was placed into as a "problematic" team. Meaning they hired me and gave me the worst possible circumstances in which to perform. As a foreigner, it truly upset me to know I had invested so much into working at this company only to find out so many people had really hated their jobs and I was given the worst set of circumstances to start a new job. I don't wish this environment on anyone. Talking badly about the company is obviously discouraged. While the company does try hard to encourage their staff to leave positive reviews on platforms like this. So some of the positivity in other reviews here is manufactured by the company, and not necessarily an employee's genuine review. I am much happier working for another company. I am able to deliver 10x more code than I could at Kaufland e-commerce. I am not just a negative person or a negative reviewer as the company will write it off to be. Kaufland e-commerce has issues that they will dismiss as unimportant or blame their employees for. In my experience they don't really make an effort to resolve real problems at the company.

Hi and thank you for your feedback and the time you took to give your review! We apologize that you didn’t have a good experience with us, and that your circumstances to start were less than ideal. Of course, ideally, we want everyone to be included directly from the beginning in a positive work environment, and we're sorry that wasn't the case for you. We will check the situation. We understand that starting a job in Germany as a foreigner takes up much more energy than in your home country, and we thank you for choosing and placing your trust in Kaufland e-commerce as your employer in a foreign country. We're sorry if you feel we are manipulating you or someone else into writing positive reviews for us as a company. However, we don't ask our employees to write positive reviews per se; we only ask that they review us accurately so that we can improve. Of course, we also appreciate a 1:1 approach if there are problems so that we can take concrete action. We wish you all the best! HR Team

Hi and thank you for your feedback and the time you took to give your review! We are happy that you rate aspects such as colleague cohesion, our welcome package and the possibility of working remotely positively. At the same time, you mentioned the office policy as a contra point. Working 100% remotely at our company as a Senior Software Engineer is possible. Therefore, this point needs to be explained for us. You are welcome to give us more insights on this. Our OKRs help us to pursue our corporate goals to which every team contributes. We focus on a high level of personal responsibility and hand over the "path to the goal" to our employees. There are guidelines for orientation but we are not a friend of micro-managing. We are sorry that in your case you did not have a positive experience with it. We use an automated 360 degree feedback 1-2 times a year and conduct feedback trainings. However, it is also possible to initiate feedback yourself. We would have been pleased if you had contacted HR early on so that we could support you in this situation. We wish you all the best! Pros

Learning budget 200 USD/yr. Free fruits twice a week. 80% discount on Job ticket. Employees keep enjoying sick leaves once every 2 weeks (this is what I observed in "Team Persist", under their "T&P dept")

Cons

Have fake culture of values, however as an employee, I felt ruthlessness towards employees. The manager suddenly decided to end the contract without giving me any deadline/timeline or ever setting any KPIs. Only reason I was given was feedback given by the team anonymously. Note the my contract was permanent contract, still this happened. During my 4 months of presence in this firm, I saw 7 to 8 departures. I saw this as managers announce in the Slack group (of wider team) about " deciding to part ways" or " deciding to leave". It is obvious, that if employee has resigned by him/herself then they would serve a notice period and put the exit/goodbye message themselves. Most of the mid and top level managers appears to be around 30's. If an prospective candidate has age more than 30, I would say be ready to accept orders from young people who does not care for your higher experience. They are in their world of quick growth or out of the company mindset.

Hi and thank you for your feedback and the time you took to write it. We are very sorry that you felt a lack of communication during your employment and offboarding afterwards. It is always our aim to clearly communicate the expectations of the position at an early stage, but also when expectations are not met. That is why we hold initial feedback cycles after the first 3 month, in which we collect anonymous feedback from colleagues, which the manager then passes on to you together with their own feedback. We develop our managers through a number of internal training courses and initiatives (Mentoring Program, Leadership Circle, Feedback Training etc.) to ensure transparancy against employees. We're sorry if you felt the feedback wasn't transparent enough. We see ourselves as an international company, as our employees come from over 65 different countries. We are aware that moving to another country brings with it many changes and that is why we take special care to ensure that our international employees feel welcome by engaging an external agency and by providing you with important initial infomation from our HR team. Since it means a special effort for all parties involved, it is always our goal that employees work for us in the long term and have a perspective at Kaufland e-commerce. However, if we no longer see a long-term perspective, we will strive to find a fair solution for the termination. We are very sorry that you had a different expectation that could not be fulfilled. We wish you all the best and a good start in Germany. HR Team
