Pros

A lot of freedom at the company. Potential to make money (but no way to cultivate it properly). Great city and work hours.

Cons

Lack of trading culture; thus, many traders choose to trade from home. Dark and unlit trading floor (bad on eyes). New trader training is terrible. Mentors are hit/miss, but mostly miss. Company seems to hire in quantity versus quality. Very expensive desk fees. Technology team has an ego despite developing mediocre software. Virtually zero experienced trader to developing trader interaction. New traders are stuck in their own corner of the trading floor, while the experienced traders typically stick with each other

Pros

They have been in business for a long time. The guys are easy to deal with. The guys have the interests aligned with yours, but that is about all.

Cons

Too long to list. Average technology, average support, no learning, no guidance, and no environment to improve once your old stuff stops working.

Pros

Invested in technology and once you build a track record the management gives you a lot of leash. You can do any type of trading but you have to teach yourself it all.

Cons

Very little guidance on strategies. Half of the company trades like its the Tech Bubble/Bust where they just pay offers on new highs and hit bids on new lows, where there is another half with actual strategies, ie. merger arb, end of the day imbalances, etf NAV arb, stat arb.
