Corporate has no idea what it's doing sometimes! They force stock into the backrooms and clog it with (overpriced) stuff that doesn't sell. I don't know who buys this stuff at upper-level, but they're morons about it. You'll have to directly deal with this excessive buying when undoing totes (weekly restocks of usually exactly the amount sold) and will have to try and cope. Management tours the stores and usually complain about exactly the problems they create, which makes uppers stressed out (rightfully so!) Customer service is so coddling its obscene: return policy is ridiculous (no receipt? Who cares!) and you're constantly played by thieves and losers. Customers can walk all over you and tell you "this price is x" and if it's less than $10 difference, you oblige. There's no respect from these types, and they're really common, which is awful because there's nothing you can do. Doing photo is awful because customers are not tech-savvy and will demand you do their entire 200 picture album while you have to watch register. Likewise for Western Union, which is a cesspool for drug dealers, weirdos, and scammers despite your training. Pharmacy is like a whole other world and very disconnected to the cashiers, who are often barely spoken to by them. This isn't a bad job by any means if you're just starting out or need a job, but it's not easy and gets real old, real fast.
