Pros

I made friends with the people I work with. I guess because it's easier to band together when you're all being treated poorly. Sales team gets 20% discount, team leaders get 30% discount and managers get 40% discount. Bonus if you sell 6+ rewards memberships in a pay period. ($3 for every one sold) Occasional opportunities to win products sold by KSO.

Cons

I worked there two years and saw close to 100 employees come in and out. The turnover rate is extremely high, mostly because corporate gives no incentive to stay. Fellas, they hire 1 male for every 5 females, so good luck. Not much diversity in the staff. At the location I worked, they were mostly college sorority girls, even managers. You begin on the sales floor, helping customers and "joining KSO family members" which is KSO's rewards program. Corporate puts a high (too high) emphasis on selling rewards memberships, which isn't always easy considering they are an additional $10. The pay is minimum wage and no matter how loyal you've been, you never get a raise unless you're promoted to the register. You then get a 25 cent raise. After that you'll never get a raise unless they promote you to assistant manager, which hardly ever happens unless one leaves or gets fired. Just expect to never get paid more than $7.50. In addition to poor pay, employees have to buy their uniform shirts, which comes out of your paycheck. Curvy ladies, beware, the shirts are fitted and stop at a size Large. Promotions are based on your KSO family average. The more KSO family you sell, the better chances you have at being promoted. Hard worker, but not a good sales person? Too bad. Assistant managers were pretty cool. However, the store manager and district managers were terrible. You'll usually work with the assistant managers, though. There is TERRIBLE communication among the managers, district managers, and the rest of the team. This causes a lot of issues as far as what is expected of the team, which leads to people getting discouraged, confused, and abused. Upper management seems to really take advantage of good work ethic. They never tell you what you're doing right, they only tell you what you're doing wrong. I never felt appreciated the whole time I was there. I was raised to have good work ethic, and there were several times I was taken advantage of, especially in the busy seasons. The manager and district manager are also very passive aggressive. There were times I would ask if there was anything I could improve on and the answer was always no, just for me to find a note later stating things I slacked on. They also play favorites, and if you rub them wrong once, there's basically no coming back from that. Each employee, including assistant managers, is treated as if they're disposable, no matter how much they've put into the company. The only employees who get treated fairly are the store managers and district managers. At KSO, corporate expects you to be passionate about your job; to eat sleep and breathe Kinnucan's. But it's really hard to be passionate about a part-time job that pays minimum wage with no benefits, vacation days, and poor treatment. Upper management was also pretty shady. They would sometimes do things that I thought were unethical and tasteless. Corporate employees also have a reputation of being heavy drinkers when out promoting/opening new stores. It's hard to push for professionalism when your employers can't even be professional. Please save yourself the time and don't even apply for a job. You'll only help the turnover rate keep climbing.

Pros

Good hours (meaning lots of hours) Cool Merchandise/Vendors

Cons

Very high turnover, makes working difficult having to train new employees constantly Too much focus on joining KSO families (rewards program) They care much more about the customer than the employee (you feel very expendable)

Pros

Actual work is nice... simple things like changing hangers or switching sale tags around. Easy stuff.

Cons

Awful management. Managers would accuse people of lying and would check everyone's bags before we left work. And they write you up for *everything*.
