Pros

Exposure to a variety of roadway and municipal infrastructure projects. Field inspectors can gain practical experience with construction documentation, contractor coordination, and day-to-day project oversight. Some coworkers in the field are knowledgeable and try to support each other despite the challenges.

Cons

The overall culture feels extremely production-driven. Schedules, billable hours, and deliverables tend to take priority over the well-being of field staff. Noticeable inconsistency in how employees are treated. Flexibility and understanding during difficult personal situations can vary widely depending on who you are or who you report to. Middle management often appears caught between field staff and upper leadership and may not have the authority or willingness to advocate effectively for their Work-life balance during active construction seasons can be very difficult, and expectations sometimes feel unrealistic given the realities of field inspection work. Morale among field personnel can suffer when employees feel like they are treated as replaceable rather than as experienced professionals responsible for critical quality and safety oversight.

Pros

Great working environment and great people.

Cons

At times the work got a little boring and I hoped I would be part of more projects.
