Pros

Good discount in store and on excursions Great people in the obx Work life balance Living in the obx was great

Cons

I was hired at KHK as an intern. They had me come down two days before I would start work and get settled in. The house they put me in had yet to be cleaned, cockroaches where everywhere. I am lucky since I am from the US but if someone from England, Ireland, or any other country these people recruit from came in they would have no idea what to do. I cleaned up the house using my own money resources and time because I knew in the next coming weeks I would be getting foreign roommates. I bought them bedding, towels, fans for their rooms since our home was not equipped with AC, and stocked our fridge for the first couple days until they got settled to make it an easier transition. This should not have been on me to do but the staff at KHK simply do not care. I then was forced to drive around a company vehicle that the breaks did not work in, that obviously had not been cared for. I just felt as though I was under appreciated, and that these people con young adults, tell them how great their experience will be, then they put them in awful living situations, make them pay rent, and don't care for them.

Pros

Store discount is pretty nice at 40%

Cons

The CEO is greedy, manipulative and has an unrealistic outlook on "work ethic". His idea of work ethic is working 60-80hr weeks including weekends and making minimum wage because its a "team effort". There are no bonus opportunities for full-time employees. You will be hired for 1 job and asked to work 3 (without compensation) The company is severely understaffed and severely corrupt. You are expected to consider "living at the beach" as a job perk. CEO is verbally abusive, condescending, RUDE and a hands off micromanager. The marketing department was/is overworked and criminally underpaid. This company is trying to do too much with too little. They additionally have a very poor community culture. The do nothing to incentivize their employees to stay, they treat everyone as replaceable because that is the trend in their company and they know they can convince and eager college student or recent graduate to take an underpaid job because living at the beach is cool. THE RATS AND MICE IN THE OFFICES!!!! The 5star ratings of this company are (unpaid) fake from HR employees and the CEO's wife.

Pros

Activities offered for free, even though most times you will be to busy to enjoy them. Good employee discount especially during the off season.

Cons

6day work weeks, must work both open and closing shifts, so you may be at a store until 11pm and open at 9am the next morning. Weekly management meetings where you may be up in 10 departments but may be made to feel beaten down if you are down in one or two. The 6 day weeks mean you will be tired from working 6 days straight with one day off for 14 weeks straight so you will be to tire to even enjoy the beach around you. Off season you will have 1-2 days a week of work given to you if your store is one that closes like most do. You can ask for things you want your store to carry, but good luck getting it if you're not one of the Nags Head locations. Smaller stores will also be the last to get hot items in stock, so at the weekly meetings you will be made to feel small for sales being down in areas where you have not received the newest items.
