Pros

People - most people here are great and genuinely care about making the world a better place Organizations - most of the organizations you get to work with are doing good work Opportunities for growth Remote work - had remote employees before the pandemic, so you can work from anywhere

Cons

Pace of work and Burnout - the pace and pressure can be very intense. People constantly felt like they were overworked and burning out. Leadership always talks about getting more support, but even when new people were hired, the work kept increasing and was still too much to keep up with Culture is changing - Koya was acquired by a larger search firm (owned by private equity), which put much more focus on revenue. It started to feel like a much bigger, corporate firm. Koya has a commitment to DEI and is seen as a leader in placing people of color into roles. Koya does value DEI and has internal practices and policies that support that. However, some of the top leadership has some real blind spots about their privilege and power and how they wield those - that effects everyone but particularly people of color. There is often the "tyranny of the urgent," and everything else (including employee wellbeing) seems to come second to making the client happy, which ends up undermining some of the DEI principles.

Pros

There are no pros left for this company

Cons

Since this company was purchased by an investment firm it has really changed. It's now all about making as much money as possible. People are overworked to the point of exhaustion and people are leaving. The culture of caring is gone and now it's only about profit.
