Pros

Many different technologies in use, a good opportunity to learn if you're a junior. There are free snacks available, and massages once a week.

Cons

Low salaries. Long hours are more valued than the quality of the work produced. (and the extra time is often demanded but never paid). The deadlines to build features is often imposed by management (outside of IT, with no knowledge of the area), usually there's barely enough time to develop, less alone test the feature ,but the failures and delays are always the fault of who developed. A part of the platform is on legacy code, very hard to maintain. There's a lot of office politics and career progress depends more on political and social skills than on technical skills.

Selling what they are not

Pros

15 minutes massage every 2 weeks. Kitchen very well stocked with every kind of food. If you want something different, you just have to ask for it. You have free lunch at the office whilst keep paying your meal allowance. Possibility to attend 3 times a week to a 30 minute body training class, remotely, in small groups of 3-6 people.

Cons

CEO does micro-management in the whole company. There's a culture of fear to those who don't share CEO visions / decisions / opinions. They sell the idea of a transparent company, but communication is based on secrets shared amongst the small groups around the managers and team leaders. The pillars of the company are: humble, hunger and smart. Managers and leaders are not humble to learn with people that bring some knowledge from other work experiences. They want hunger but there is no meritocracy at all. They even tell you that they value bad colaborators that bow to their wills the most, than people that does a good work but has different opinions and present new solutions. The smart value could only be translated to be a "smart guy", talking at people's backs and try to stab them in order to progress. There are 4 months forbidden to take vacations. There are 3 mandatory vacation days: Christmas and New Year's Eve, and St. John's holiday. You are obliged to register when you enter and leave the office (or your desk at home) on a company clock application. The office facilities are not great - really bad resolution screens that make your eyes burn at the end of a day, the tables shake when your teammate types on his keyboard, the air conditioner can't cool the whole open space in the summer. There's no remote policy. They want to bring people back to the office as soon as the government let them. You'll probably just work from home while COVID pandemic is happening. There is a heavy legacy, both in back-end and front-end, and it's never a priority to address the technical debts. You're encouraged to grow that techinal debt with more problems, trying to obfuscate them with duplicated databases or endpoints, paralel flows, lots of different id's for the same entity, flags everywhere, etc.

A Company Lacking Direction and Respect for Employees

Pros

Free meals. Because you take on a lot of responsibilities, you end up learning a lot.

Cons

Working at KuantoKusta has been a truly disappointing and frustrating experience. It's disheartening to see a company that claims to be innovative and forward-thinking fall so short in several crucial areas. First and foremost, the salaries at KuantoKusta are abysmal. Despite the hard work and dedication employees put into their roles, the compensation is far below industry standards. It's disheartening to feel undervalued and underpaid, especially considering the demanding workload and responsibilities. Another significant issue is the pervasive micromanagement culture that permeates the company. Rather than fostering an environment of trust and autonomy, management constantly breathes down employees' necks, stifling creativity and inhibiting productivity. The lack of confidence and freedom in the workplace harms employee morale and the overall quality of work. One of the most frustrating aspects of working at KuantoKusta is the complete lack of vision from the founders. They copied the base idea without making any significant improvements or advancements. As a result, the company feels stagnant and fails to keep up with competitors in terms of innovation and market relevance. Moreover, the company's disregard for work-life balance is alarming. Employees are often expected to work excessive hours without proper compensation. Extra time is frequently demanded, but the company conveniently overlooks the need for fair compensation. Career development is practically nonexistent at KuantoKusta. The company offers minimal opportunities for employees to grow and advance. Without clear paths for progression, it becomes challenging to feel motivated and invested in the company's success. In conclusion, my experience at KuantoKusta has been marked by disappointment, frustration, and a lack of employee respect. The company's inadequate salaries, micromanagement, lack of visionary leadership, absence of career development, and exploitative time control policies make it an undesirable place to work. I would strongly advise job seekers to consider other options where their skills and contributions will be appropriately recognized and rewarded.
