Pros

You get to work on a variety of projects using all types of building materials. LAFP is a great place to gain experience, not only on engineering, but how the business side works as well.

Cons

Sometimes work flow goes up and down. Some days there is nothing to work on, other days there's trouble distributing the workload to where you're completely overwhelmed.

Pros

People at LAFP were extremely nice and friendly.

Cons

Communication from management to EITs regarding job performance/expectations was nonexistent. The company is divided into different teams, and each team is headed by a principal, or part owner of the company. Employees don't know what team they're being placed on until they are hired - at least that was true in my case. Some teams were better at developing young engineers and some weren't. I would advise young engineers to start elsewhere if you don't want to spend the majority of your first year checking shop drawings like a pathetic drone, or at least insist on learning which team/boss you will be assigned to. This can make or break your career as the team I was a part of laid off all their young engineers and other teams retained most of theirs.

Pros

Good projects to work, you will get a chance to work on lots of different projects. Flexible work time. Lunch offered by company twice a week, but you may or may not enjoy the choices.

Cons

Low compensation. Unimpressive benefits. Employee matching is very low. Disconnect between management and employees. Management does not share information about where the company is heading, what is the outlook in terms of salary raise, bonuses, projects in the pipe, company profits. You won't know how bonuses or raises are calculated.
