Pros

Best and largest interpreting agency in the Midwest. An excellent workplace. Trainings and certifications are provided after introductory period. You must show the initiative to get all trainings and work assignments.

Cons

Since there is no minimum guarantee of hours allotted to each interpreter, it is hard to plan a budget when in one pay period there is 80 hours worked and the next is 26 hours. Not a fault of the agency just hardship of the field.

Pros

Awesome staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly and will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Very espectful and understanding. Opportunities for advancement and built-in pay raises tied to further education, as well as free Bridging the Gap certification for all interpreters.

Cons

As a per diem job, hours are fluctuating and can never be guaranteed. Since you aren't staffed by hospitals but by an agency, you have several appointments at various locations which means you have to include buffer times between appointments (which can't be billed for) to allow for travel and unforseen circumstances. These are things related to the nature of agency interpreting, and are not the fault of the organization.

Pros

LAMP strives to provide quality interpreting service by training interpreters to do a good job. Every day is something different and the organization is quite diverse.

Cons

Jobs are on-call, so you never know how many hours per week you'll work.
