Pros

I'll edit this when I can think of a Pro!

Cons

Granted, I was only employed at LATHER for 3 months before I walked out - yes, now all of the employees know who wrote this. Walking into the place, they do a FANTASTIC job putting on a facade that they are culture focused and team oriented.. that being said, I had a great first 2 weeks until the true colors started to show. The drama behind that place is something you would see if lifetime came out with a rendition of Mean Girls. I have never dealt with such immature, shady adults in my life - let alone from the managing staff. My duties included things that they could never fathom due to never having my position prior to me, so I knew there would be some learning curve with management and communication. Boy, was that a misconstrued outlook on my part! If you thoroughly enjoy micro-management, untrusting people, horrible benefits, moody (often so childish they will avoid you) management, your timecard looked at under a microscope, zero culture, slow weeks, more unenjoyable days than if you were a prison mate in Orange is The New Black, untimely reimbursements, internet that literally never works, broken promises, zero room for growth, raises or bonuses and the 8-10 enjoyable people that have given their lives to that place, than this is definitely the place for you. If you do not enjoy the above, literally go work anywhere else and you will be worlds happier. Life is too short to work for a company who puts less respect in you than they do in the creaky stairs that lead up to the place.

Pros

Professionally, one of the worst companies I've had the opportunity to work at.

Cons

f you are considering this company, I strongly encourage you to keep looking. This is a small "mom & pop" shop where common ethical and professional business models are not practiced. The company is privately owned by Robert & Emilie Hoyt. Robert Hoyt seems to be lost in the company and lacked definition to his role. He was constantly overshadowed by his overly vocal wife, Emilie. This woman would run around the office slamming doors, at several times I questioned her sobriety, and she constantly bickered with her husband without consideration of maintaining a professional work environment for those around her. Don't expect to see any transparency in this company. Core values would be presented but never implemented. Salaries are generally average to below average and bonuses are infrequent if any. There was/is a high turnover at this company as well. As some employees left on their own, others were fired but it all brought questions as to the ethics of this company (or should I say lack of). Lastly, what's comical is that the brick and mortar storefront in Pasadena prides itself as being this clean, healthy environment. If only consumers saw the corporate offices a block away. There was an abundant roach and rodent problem, ventilation was of poor quality, and overall the entire office was kept filthy. The owners reminded me of nothing more than amateur business slumlords. I highly recommend you avoid any attempt at employment here.

Great Smelling Products! Terrible Work Environment!

Pros

There are some great people who work (or have worked) at LATHER – there’s a supportive vibe between the people who keep the business running day-to-day. The corporate office location offers great food and shopping options in Old Town Pasadena. You’ll have access to more body soap and shampoo than you know what to do with. You get to take your birthday as a paid holiday.

Cons

Work culture is created and sustained from the top down, and the senior leadership at LATHER are unprofessional and toxic personalities with very poor communication styles. The office environment is affected daily by the CEO's erratic and emotional outbursts, which often overrides her professionalism. I witnessed several occasions of yelling and berating conversations with employees. There are office politics anywhere you go, but the politics here are especially hard to navigate. It is a second job, and an exhausting one, to learn how to successfully avoid the minefields caused by the mercurial leadership. Salary, benefits and perks are not competitive. Employees are not trusted to own projects or do their job without being micromanaged. As mentioned in other reviews, they are very sensitive to negative reviews, but they should start to look inward if they wish to change the culture and experience of working at LATHER. They pride themselves on the importance of self-care and wellness but do very little to nurture the well-being and success of their staff. Posting (or urging their employees to post) dishonest reviews only proves how manipulative and unhealthy the environment is.
