    Pros

LEGOLAND is a fun company full of creativity. You get to carry your ideas into reality and thought are not long away from action. Everything is revolved about a great and unique LEGOLAND park and when you go there, you always get a smile on your face.

    Cons

Tough run company through ownership of Merlin Entertainments, where main focus is to satisfy shareholders. Always.

I have been working at LEGOLAND part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working here is a blast, when it's a good day. As a bellman, you have a lot of movement room in the hotel to walk around and to interact with guests. The tips are pretty nice on busy days and weekends. The staff is very friendly and the management is willing to help, when you can find them. They, the hotel, are very flexible around your schedule. As long as if you stay in your lane and don't get involved with other... positions or issues, you will be perfectly fine.

    Cons

Working here has quite a few downfalls. One major one is the lack of staff. There are two (2) dedicated bellmen. There are four (4) valets, who also do help bell with some others who can fill in, when they aren't scheduled for their positions. Another is the lack of tools. There are eight (8) bell carts for the entire 152 room hotel. Granted they are supposed to order more for the new opening, we shall see. There... is also a massive radio shortage in the hotel. Bellmen and valet have to swap radios off from shift to shift, forcing the evening shift to run on mostly dead radios. These radios are vital to our communication and conversations between management, valet, bell, and PBX. The management has issues of its own. While they are there to help and do help quite a lot, there are also times where the management will disappear without a trace, not answer the radios, not answer the phone when needed. As well, they will change the way they handle situations basically daily. One day they will ask you to follow the policies and procedures to a T, the next they will tell you that you were wrong to tell a guest that we couldn't do something for them, even though it is in our procedures that we don't. This inconsistency make the employees look bad.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they give a suggestion. If you hear them complain about something, ask what they would do to change it. While everything cannot be used, take the suggestions and see what can be done about them. Value your employees a little more. While the internal recognition app is awesome, there is definitely more that happens that isn't put on the recognition app, the KPI, or even the kiosk... mentions.

I worked at LEGOLAND full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Providing children a memorable experience Fun to dress the part Good colleague camaraderie Location Free Merlin Passes Free Parking Pay for 18 years to 21 competitive

    Cons

Inconsistent and unfair pay increase opportunities Can be monotonous and physically tiring if positions are not rotated Unfair breaks depending on location vs. distance to staff canteen

    Advice to Management

Stronger emphasis and follow through on the crucial aspect of what the job entails........proving guests with a magical experience. On many occasions, staff have been unprofessional and abrupt with guests. Some operators are inconsistent with a few providing frequent role rotations, inflexible regarding comfort breaks or fail to use sensible discretion. Management do not or are reluctant to address issues to... higher management, which is frustrating so may need extra support or freedom. Employees also have to play their part too and managers need to have a more open door policy or short monthly reviews........ I am far too busy isn’t the most positive response in most cases. With some fine tuning, consistency throughout and just pure common sense Legoland could be greatly improved.
