WORST PLACE TO WORK

Pros

There are no pros. Everyone at this company is miserable because the CEO is hostile and abusive.

Cons

The CEO is bipolar. She leaves her young daughter alone in her office for us to babysit and leaves for meetings at Ft. Meade. She comes back yelling and screaming at every employee. When the CEO has had her fun verbally abusing you she then fires you and calls it a "reduce in force" meaning due to budget she has to cut your position. She goes through EA's and HR people every few months and then fires them because she gets a power trip over it. Her son also works for her and she yells at him all day long while he sleeps in his office. IT IS HOSTILE! Its impossible to put a paper clip or a staple on a piece of paper for her correctly because she will rip it off and throw it at you, daily. She has a security person who manages the clearances and that person has been molded into being an office spy by gathering complaints of the staff and running them back to the CEO however the good thing is, this security person takes 3 hour long lunch breaks and she doesn't arrive to work until 10am. PLEASE do not apply here, I warn you that your health will decline, you peace and happiness will shatter within 2 weeks of hire and you will deeply regret it. This company is also undergoing some major financial issues and I pray that this CEO fails and this company drowns in the same amount of misery that she has caused on all of our lives. Stay far away.

Pros

Make sure to request an onsite interview prior to accepting an offer with this company. Make it a point to tour the corporate office and engage with the current employees. Looking back on the interview process all of my interviews were conducted offsite. The last interview I requested to come into the office , the meeting took place in the front conference room. If I had simply toured the office there is NO WAY I would of moved forward in the hiring process. The atmosphere is depressing at best. The employees do everything they can to avoid the Founder & President for fear that they will be on the receiving end of one of her tirades. Collaboration is a non option in this environment because the employees are reprimanded for talking to their co-workers. It's BIZARRE! Everyone is paranoid that there will be backlash from senior management for sharing information so they just keep to themselves. There are NO laptops in the corporate office , ONLY workstations , no corporate cell phones , working from home is not allowed. How is this a " tech company " with barely any technology??? It's all landlines , outdated software packages and paper folders at LG-TEK! Whatever the cheapest way is to do a task , that is considered the "right" way here! It's sad to think as a business professional I am struggling to find a "pro" to highlight. I guess I should be grateful that there are even" resources provided " to employees ??? It blows my mind that in this day and age there are companies like this.

Cons

Employee Engagement does not exist here. The turnover is through the roof. On a good day the culture here is miserable and not one executive seems to notice. Employees are actually charged per month if they drink coffee, use a napkin or a fork in the office kitchen. Can you imagine writing a personal check & having to estimate how many cups of coffee or tea you might drink or how many plastic forks you may use the following month? It's insanity!! And dont even get me started on the overpriced basic benefits ( that cost the employees a ton. ) The PTO is on the low end , there aren't any employee events other than consoling each other after being berated or flat out lied to by one of the executives. Think of the reality show SURVIVOR only in corporate america instead of an island. If you can avoid working here than do. Trust me there are a TON of companies out there that invest in their employees and create a corporate culture that attracts the best and brightest as well as retains them! Our direct competitors offer friendly , supportive , collaborative, innovated team environments led by professionals who are compassionate, smart , authentic and operate with the highest level of integrity. If that is the type of company that you are in search of than you may want to do your due diligence throughout the interview process with LG-TEK. I would do your research and meet with as many people as possible before making the decision to join. I wish I had. If this was the only company hiring in order for me to survive I would still pass. That's how awful it is.

Pros

There is not ONE Pro I can list......

Cons

Leadership is horrible, if you aren't a "yes" person you might as well hang it up. President leads by fear and intimidation. Walk around on eggshells for fear of having her tear you apart. I have never in all my years of working and supporting C-Suite encountered anyone like her. She belittles everyone. Staff are afraid to stick up for themselves for fear of getting fired. She is never wrong, so again, get used to saying yes ma'am. You have to pay for coffee, you can't use the paper plates or plastic forks/spoons unless you contribute. There are a handful of people who have been there many years but she has beaten them down so far they have no self esteem left to go elsewhere. She was pleasant for my first 3 days and then turned into Atilla the Hun. By far the WORST place I have ever worked. It is so bad there I heard someone did cartwheels down the hallway when they quit.
