Mixed, challenging, political team environment.

Pros

The products and brands are fantastic, the people at Lion on a general basis are hard-working and passionate. There is always something new and interesting happening, which makes for a great learning environment.

Cons

The culture can be very political, it is very bureaucratic and people are not allowed to make decisions for themselves. There is a tension between the dairy and alcohol sides I'd the business, because the two are so different and should never have been merged. There is a lot of hype from HR about Lion being a great place to work, but it's all talk, no action.

Pros

The hours are spectacular. You arrive at 5:15 am and leave at 2:30 pm. It can be difficult at first to wake that early, but you get accustomed to it pretty quickly. And because you are done so early, you get the rest of the day for golf, gym, happy hour, etc.

Cons

The senior management is a bit of a juxtaposition, in that they never really managed anything, with the one exception of managing to run the stock price into the ground and lay off half of our division. Other than that, the job's great and the people were fun to work with.
