Pros

Great to have on a resume and genuinely interesting clients.

Cons

Poor training. Project failure inevitably becomes junior staff's problem. Pretty toxic culture. They think taking you to lunch will make it all better. Long hours and terrible work/life balance. If you don't work until 7:00 PM, you're not a team player. It seems like people just want to suck it up long enough to be a manager, get an office, and then continue the tradition of dumping everything on underlings without setting them up for success. LRW is the sort of place that will officially encourage everyone to speak up and share ideas, but in practice, they aren't interested in what you have to say. It's every cliche about corporate America you can imagine. Would it be worth it if you were being paid well? Sure, but this isn't Wall St. It's a market research company. And you are hardly paid market rates. Benefits are average.

Pros

Attracts employees from top-tier universities, so there are some really bright people working at the firm as Research Associates, Senior Research Managers, and Research Directors.

Cons

The worst aspect of my experience was the lack of training at the very beginning of my time as an RA. There seemed to be little to no guidance, no training regarding the basic tasks/duties of an RA, but plenty of training regarding high-level data analysis that RAs would likely not get involved in at all. My workstation changed without any notice given to me, so I was informed I was sitting at the wrong workstation one morning. Full disclosure: The drop-down menu did not let me select a year prior to 2021, but my time at the firm was well before 2021. The workplace culture did not seem like it was collaborative outside of one's own team. The work itself seemed disorganized, with changing deadlines (likely getting pushed up as opposed to pushed out). Performance metrics seemed opaque, so any career development was just a giant question mark. My best advice to fresh graduates of some of the nation's most selective colleges and universities: Look elsewhere.
