Pros
Colleagues are mostly relaxed. Individual contributors are smart. Generous vacation policy. Used to throw some good company parties/events before massive budget cuts to do mismanagement.
Cons
Where to start... 1. Incompetent management: the leadership at LUMICKS is shockingly amateurish. The CEO and founders have never run a large company before, have no prior success stories to speak of and it shows. They constantly botch communications (aka laying off 1/3 of the company the month after telling everyone jobs are safe 🤡), spend in all the wrong places, hire the wrong people, and hide the fact that they spent most of the investor money inappropriately and cashed themselves out. Don't buy into the "cult" of LUMICKS - its a dying company. 2. Lack of career development: don't expect any support for your professional growth at LUMICKS. They claim this nice, flat organizational structure but in reality it's just a bunch of incompetent middle managers fluttering around with no clue on how to foster and grow the careers of their colleagues. It's perhaps a good place to start your career, but almost everyone leaves after a year due to the chaos within. 3. Inadequate compensation: the compensation at LUMICKS is far from competitive. Raises are well below inflation. Perks are slowly being pulled back as they try to lower burn rate. The office is in the worst location in Amsterdam - it might as well be in a different city.
