The Truth Hurts

Pros

The Product.... though recently even a love for the product is hard to have due to upper management's policies, behavior, and the environment they have cultivated.

Cons

To start, the only positive reviews that have come in recently are either fake or incentivized. HR will pretend otherwise, but incentives come in two forms. Sticks and Carrots. Both are being used to manipulate the Glass Door reviews. The reviews may look like things are on the mend, but that is definitely not the case. Nobody is happy. Most employees are looking for new jobs. Those that aren't looking for new opportunities have lost hope in finding something new (especially in the wake of covid-19). Many reviewers have mentioned the Chief Visionary Officer, Brent, as the root of the problem. The CVO is rude, inappropriate, manipulative, and your worst nightmare in every way. But it goes beyond the CVO. The entire executive team conforms to the will of the CVO. Most members of the executive team have plenty to say about how they don't agree with the CVO behind closed doors, but none are willing to hold him accountable when it matters. All are terrified of the CVO's ability to villainize anyone who speaks out against him for any reason (be on matters of ethical behavior or day-to-day business decisions). If the executives were actually fed up with the CVO, and were as good hearted as they want their subordinates to believe, they would do something about it as a group. But unfortunately, they all choose to stick their heads in the sand, feigning ignorance whenever the CVO engages in his unethical power struggles.

Pros

Free product and the opportunity to do the work of 3 people - if you’re into that type of thing

Cons

Every single leader is either corrupt, deceptive, manipulative, dishonest, or self-serving. Most of them have several of these characteristics. So good luck if you choose to work here. You’ll need to be either equally as villainous or a total pushover to make it in this chaotic, failing, and backward-behaving culture. You’ll need a miracle to succeed if you’re a female.

Pros

The individuals you work with are amazing and inspirational people who are very competent, hard working, and care about the products. The products are also great and help people live healthier lives. I get the sense VPs care about employees even though C level does not. Company is growing and is successful.

Cons

New upper management. Previous COO was great but was moved to another company and new COO is qualified but only cares about making sure the CEO is happy. Doesn't do anything to advocate for employees. Chief visionary officer has come in in the last few months and completely re did the company values without asking anyone else, he is in the office more and more recently which is not a good thing because he frequently belittles workers, says people are stupid for their decisions, has begun taking decision making ability from management he hired and is forcing everyone to move forward based on his guidance. Not to mention his insensitive talk about people based on age, religion, other beliefs. His toxic leadership trickles down to everyone because he is always sending teams in different directions based on how he feels on that given day. Several amazing people have been fired because they questioned him. Also work life balance is very bad. And the CVO is forcing people who can work from home to work in the office during the COVID 19 outbreak. His reaction to the pandemic is to send messages on slack to the whole company telling them to take vitamins but to work in the office. Truly amazing and shows upper management do not care at all about employees.

Lakanto Response

In recent weeks our CEO has recognized these big issues and to accommodate a better understanding of employees, he has requested to be more involved in HR by being the direct report. We are putting out Employee surveys and responding to Glassdoor reviews in an attempt to understand and address many of these concerns. We recognized our shortcomings in how the Pandemic was handled. We realized quickly that we needed to institute a more comfortable policy, we heard our employees and created a 50% work from home policy to increase the safety. For those that still felt unsafe, we made individual accommodations to work from home completely to try to keep everybody comfortable. We hope that you recognized the companies efforts, and if there are still concerns, we hope you'll feel comfortable to come share your concerns with us.
