Supportive team culture with a focus on stability
Pros
Fantastic place to work. I work with a team who cares about each other and supports each other. I have been with Lamar for quite a while already and sometimes forget how good we have it here. I am reminded by people who come from other companies that have had terrible experiences there about how great it is here. I'm thankful to be part of this company, it's apparent that they care. A huge plus is that Lamar Trailers is debt free, that makes it more of a stable place to work, especially during a bit of a slow season. They value our input and we are all given opportunities to make improvements to help us with painpoints in our jobs. This type of ownership helps us feel valued. I do not want to be at a place where I feel like I make no difference or I don't matter.
Cons
They have a point system for tardiness or no shows, which can be good, don't get me wrong, however I think sometimes we have lost good people because they've racked up too many points and were terminated and the reasons may have been that they were going through something really difficult at home with a spouse or children. Granted, there needs to be communication both ways, but I think maybe sometimes a little more grace could be granted in certain situations. All that being said, I am not in a management position and know that I do not get (nor need to get) the full version of every story and situation. I know that management is not just "out to getcha".
