Pros

Working for Lane County comes with an amazing benefits package and many perks. I love the companies commitment to employee health and wellness and having a free International Fitness pass, as well as, access to a wellness clinic (no co-pay and spouses and family are welcome!) Aside from the perks, Lane County offers a variety of classes, workshops, and lunch and learns that have provided me with valuable information and opportunities to grow as an employee and a person. The people I have connected with throughout the county have been very pleasant to work with (must be because they feel respected and valued at their workplace) and are passionate about what they do. The county offers opportunities to transfer or advance within any department, so there is always an opportunity to try something new or spread your wings. Passionate about a subject or cause not directly related to your job? Join a workgroup, volunteer, or attend one of many meetings held for county employees in various subjects. The opportunities are endless and the best part is you are working for your community and contributing in making Lane County an amazing place to live, work, and play.

Cons

With opportunities to move around within the county being readily available for employees there are times when turnover in my department may be high. This means that we each need to adapt to new personalities and working styles which can be difficult at times. Sometimes the workload can pile on which calls for some late nights and overtime (comp time and overtime pay really make this quite manageable every now and then- and sometimes very attractive).

Pros

Pay and benefits are good Some leadership seems to be excellent while others are quite lacking Facilities are okay

Cons

My biggest gripe is poor management, I've had no employee review after 4 years and little constructive feedback. And at the same time, I've had resistance to innovation and change.
