Prepare to give blood, sweat, and tears
Pros
Very good salary, and you will definitely learn to be a better accountant if you're willing to give up blood, sweat, and tears. If you have tough skin and you need the money - I say go for it! If you're willing to write 5 star reviews on Glassdoor, you may score a promotion! Actually, as long as you stick it while other accountants and managers leave, you'll most certainly get a promotion. Good benefits and 10 additional days of Jewish holidays a year (Officially. Unofficially you maybe forced to work on those days anyways). Other department heads and staff are amazingly wonderful to work with.
Cons
Ridiculous hours. Accountants and managers regularly work 12 hour days. Head of accounting contacts staff to work on Valentine's day, family day, weekends, holidays, and somehow everything is always an emergency. Accounting staff are shamed in front of coworkers and receive emails in all caps. Coworkers are pitted against each other. If you don't have tough skin, I recommend not joining. Multiple staff left due to mental health breakdown and burnout. The department is a constant revolving door. Be prepared to suddenly take on the work of someone who left with short notice on top of your own work. Above has been my personal experience. Only three stars for inclusion because head of accounting said that she won't hire Jewish people because they "refuse to work on Jewish holidays".
