Pros

Great for young person - 1st job/doesnt know anything about finance/legal/ops

Cons

High staff turnover, surprised to see anyone who lasts long here energetic founder who has tension between his legal background (everything has to be done properly/safely) with entrepreneurial side (another whacky risky idea!) so lots of initiatives get canned after a little while No pension/benefits, founder just likes to hire young cheap people as he calls them, use them until they burn out and get new ones. no interest in hiring anyone to challenge him, so as soon as he thinks you talk back he may get rid of you Revenue made primarily from legal and boring operational work rather than fun investment stuff

Pros

Working at Laven is just a terrible experience. Management is often sending employee emails to leave the company good reviews on this website…but the place sucks. Now you know, where the good reviews come from. Same for the reviews on Google - also left by employees after being bullied into it.

Cons

Laven does not encourage flexibility and you can’t work from home at any time. Laven Partners has a poor (or no) benefits and employees with children are not welcome. Management is against pregnant women (a couple of women from the office sued the company regarding being fired just after coming back from mat leave). The company is vile, penny-pinching and they will make you come early and leave late. They actively encourage an absence of family life. Work life Imbalance is key. If you want to age quickly and don’t mind your health, go and work for them!

Laven Partners Response
5y
Dear Sir/Madam, We are finding this review deeply shocking and very saddening as it is factually inaccurate, which makes us suspect some malicious intent or that it is not genuine feedback. Firstly, we have never had the title ‘Managing Partner’ at Laven, and no one in the history of our company would have been in a similar role for 5 to 7 years. Since we believe that Glassdoor plays an essential role in providing transparent company information for potential employees, we thus feel we should respond. Any issues raised by you in this feedback could have been easily handled through our internal complaint procedures, and since you, supposedly, had not raised them over seven years at the company this also confirms us that the feedback in not genuine. Further, we also have two current staff maternities going very well, with lovely healthy babies, one of whom has recently come back full time. We have always encouraged working from home if the work you did allows it. Indeed many Managing Directors do, and therefore we struggle to accept any of your reviews as truthful. We encourage diversity and have built a fantastic and enthusiastic team. At Laven, we expect high standards. It is sometimes difficult for employees to meet the high standards and perhaps after a few years, you were not promoted, and this caused resentment. We are always happy to answer any questions, so feel free to email me directly if I can help. Above all, we wish you the best of luck and hope you find the best path in life that makes you happy. Kind Regards, Jerome, CEO
