Terrible place to work

Pros

After the Northwestern Mutual acquisition this place has become unbearable. All the talent has left and only people left are ones forced to stay due to stock vesting

Cons

Has become a real mess. No longer the inpiring and exciting company is used to be. Everyone is quitting even HR folks. People being hired are either desperate or too naive to tell that this place is a sinking ship. Look at the board of directors- a bunch of NM executives even low level ones and a single LV rep the ceo. This means NM and their aging, technologically challenged staff run the show and all they want is to bring NM into 21st century. DO NOT WORK HERE. If you are young and smart and motivated this place will destroy your soul as you will spend most of your time doing integration work for NM. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Most hood reviews here are fake because HR asked staff members to submit fake reviews.

Management fails

Pros

Alexa always said she could sell snow to a snowman, and she's right. She sells the heck out of her company and as a result there are some pretty amazing people that work there. I've made many lifelong friends.

Cons

Management is abysmal. There are a few notable leaders that would often threaten to fire people. Then, they dramatically would fire people and humiliate them in front of all their coworkers. If you complained, HR would tell you to look elsewhere for another job. It's really the most catty, manipulative environment you could ever imagine.

Pros

Like others have said there is always free food around. Nothing else anymore as those who have stayed are planning their exits.

Cons

Once the company was sold, the executives made bank, and the smart ones bailed quickly. Those of us who stayed have had the marrow sucked out of us. Now just planning exit strategy. Learnvest is dead. NM bought the company to build their new technology and that is 100% the focus. Like others have said all the negative reviews are true. Great dream, but not reality to the dream. Management is still arrogant and drive top notch employees away. Those who go to the AZ office are always amazed at the lack of work that any of them are doing and we were just told that they hired another 20 people for appearances sake. Sad to have worked here for to see the company dead. Money was promised to keep people here but isn't being seen. The whole acquisition was a lie to the rank and file on what was going to happen. True what others have said about number the numbers. Makes you wonder... after 3 months of working there people see that what they were told during hiring is not the reality, everyone is demoralized. What a lesson in what a passionate brand ambassador can do.
