Leasecake has won awards and been written up in articles because of the "people first" culture. There's a lot of talk about how "Leasecake is love" and how we’re all part of the Leasecake family, and how much we value our PEEPs. But the reality is much different from what the company tries to portray. EXAMPLE: Several co-workers won an award back in January for their contributions. Part of the award is supposed to be a fabulous retreat to a fun destination. It all sounds great when the CEO announces it. But like so many things that come out of his mouth, it’s all for show. Five months later and there’s still no talk about scheduling that trip. It just disappears. At least one of those winners was among the 11 people who lost their jobs last week. So that person will never get what they earned. That’s just one example, but there are so many others. Internally, a lot of people feel disillusioned, confused, and in the dark. Priorities and objectives shift, and leadership makes it seem like every new tactic and strategy will the THE ONE. But they don’t seem to have a clue.
