Pros

There is a great sense of fulfillment and accomplishment at the end of the academic year, though that mostly comes from surviving the year more than actually accomplishing anything.

Cons

The compensation for any position at Lee University is lower across the board than the same position at any similar institution, but the work load is much higher. Inter-department relationships are non-existent, and departments seem to be competing with each other constantly to be the president's "favorite." The university claims to value excellence, but does not in any way promote or excellence in either employees or students except to demand it at all costs. Neither does the university make it easy to pursue excellence, from the way departments are set up, to the minuscule budget every non-athletic department is given to operate.

Pros

Tuition assistance opportunities are good. There are some perks like use of the gym and free lunch in the cafeteria if you park in designated areas and ride the shuttle. There is also onsite childcare for a low monthly fee.

Cons

Salary is way below market rate and there is very little opportunity for advancement. Health insurance is very expensive and it is a culture reluctant to change. Investments are made in buildings and aesthetics rather than employees.

Pros

Beautiful landscaping. Props to the grounds department!

Cons

1. Severely lacking in DEI resources and conversations. Afraid to bring chapel speakers who may provide healthy theological tension and conversations. 2. Not safe for LGBTQ+ students or staff. Myself and others were brought in for questioning after being outed. 3. Low pay with unreasonable work expectations. “It’s a ministry” is not an appropriate reason for low pay.
