Pros

If you want to suddenly be upgraded in responsibility and scope of work, this is a good place for you. Your schedule and responsibilities will not be static, and a forward looking outlook to what you want to do is good to help control what tasks you do. Work/life balance is good.

Cons

If you don't suddenly want to be responsible for a new projects or task, including one outside of previous workflow and experience, this place could be stressful. There can be whiplash given it is a small-medium firm with large cases, where workloads go from easily managed (slow) to big deadline pushes. The firm's big caseloads against a defendant can take years to settle, and they are active in only several at once, so there is a feast and famine element to hiring, promotions and raises timed to settlements that could be managed smoother.

Disorganized, weird office politics

Pros

I really loved the team I worked with

Cons

- Disorganized workflow across the board. - Lots of office politics/gossip that was uncomfortable and awkward to hear - There is a very high turnover rate amongst lower level employees. - During my interview, the firm prided themselves on treating everyone in the firm as equals, but that is far from the truth. During the pandemic, they asked only the lowest level of employees to return the office every day to make the most of their rent costs. - Rarely saw the partners even though the firm was boutique-sized. - A former coworker was verbally berated by one of the partners on a 1:1 call in which the coworker's morals and character were insulted.

Pros

Will be welcoming at first. Staff is very nice. Interesting cases.

Cons

People are in constant fear for their jobs. Pattern of laying people off right before the holidays so don't have to pay bonuses. Bosses rarely show up for work which creates low morale. Financially unstable because of poor management.

Levin Simes Response

We are sorry you have been left with this impression of our firm. Levin Simes strives to have exceptional client relationships, and our employees are highly valued. Bonuses are always an optional benefit, and are generally quite generous when they are offered, but always depend upon the profitability of the firm for the year.
