Pros

I could not be happier with my decision to work for Lexington Medical as my first job coming out of college. Being a small, fast-paced company, I have had the opportunity to be exposed to so many different sectors of the business. From supporting surgeons in the operating room and crafting clinical study protocols to completing verification & validation testing and managing design controls, I have learned more than I ever could have expected.

Cons

Compared to larger medical device companies, there is far less structure. While I struggled with this at first, working with less structure has caused me to step outside of my comfort zone, take on more responsibility, and ultimately grow as an engineer. However, this environment certainly isn't for everyone as it requires you to be extremely organized and a fast learner.

Pros

Engineering team is very close-knit. Individuals are hard-working, very intelligent, and care about the work they do. Allows for product/concept development opportunities (assuming the ideas are good). Company has grown immensely in size since I started.

Cons

Very little structure with regard to the engineering team. It is often difficult to determine priorities between projects. Engineers are not assigned to specific product lines, so expertise is often spread across many individuals with little consideration. Overall a relatively high stress environment. There is often pressure to release products as fast as possible.

Pros

I’ve been with many medical device companies big and small. Lexington is not so small you’re selling an idea, but not so big that it’s siloed and your day is filled with meetings. It’s in a sweet spot where you still know everyone at the company, but you’re growing fast and you’re building something exciting. The people at Lexington are super capable and intelligent. It makes for an engaging environment where everyone elevates each other. Because it’s fast-growing, the opportunities for learning and career growth are as much as you can handle. My sense is senior management has an eye to the long-term. They’re not looking to make a quick buck. Their motivation is building a company that helps patients and surgeons, and at the same time is a place that people want to work. Also customers love the product- it’s very well-engineered. That makes everything easier. The challenges of any given day may not be easy, but I genuinely enjoy working here and am excited to come in every day.

Cons

It's not for everyone. The company is fast-paced and there isn't much downtime. I wouldn’t call Lexington cushy.
