Pros
People in the frontline, especially the disability team, do great work.
Your experience really depends on the team you work with.
Corporate staff have the option to work remotely and from anywhere in Australia.
Depending on your manager, there's job autonomy (ie not micro-managed).
My favourite parts were working with good people who did their jobs well, and meeting and telling the stories of the people who use LWB's services.
For the most part, people try to live the organisation's values of respect and relationships.
Work the organisation does is purposeful, needed and matters.
When times are challenging, remember your purpose for being there: to do work that makes a positive difference to people's lives.
Cons
Lack of understanding of what Communications is - and what Comms professionals do - by many in the organisation.
Constant restructures and redundancies - they were constantly changing the structure of the Comms and marketing teams.
There is no Comms or Marketing executive at Senior/ Executive Leadership level.
Very heirachical and elitist - where only leaders' views mattered - which is ironic for a social purpose organisation against discrimination and promoting fairness in society.
I was lucky I had good experiences but I witnessed others not being treated well.
