They Did Me A Huge Favor

Pros

My manager was very nice, 3 weeks vacation, flexible hours. I got laid off during one of the many waves of layoffs after the company was acquired, and the severance package was generous.

Cons

Colleagues were obnoxious, work was unfulfilling, and no potential from growth. I hated coming to work everyday, even considered going out on disability for mental anguish because I couldn't stand being there. Annual bonuses and raises were a joke.

Pros

-some good people to work with -basic experience for someone looking to get into medical device and leap into pharmaceuticals

Cons

- Any changes to procedures take forever, because people take the suggested changes as personal attacks and get offended even if it means improvements to meet regulations. - Clear attitude that doing the barest of minimum regulatory requirements is the highest bar. Anything more and you are a trouble employee. - Clear, obvious and outright spoken by some managers, who is favored. * if not a favorite but work hard because you care about your responsibilities, you will be dumped on at every chance - Some management will outright make comments how 'having kids' allows them to leave early and those without kids 'should take up more of the work' (a previous post mentioned how some leave early, take a lot of vacation, work from home, etc. and if a 'non-favorite' asks for 1 day off to go do the doctor, the reaction is the end of the world, that is a very true statement.) - Many of the mid-management team has the kiss-up/kick-down mentality. - Reviews are based on people's 'feelings' and not on work ethic, work quality, or any type of improvements. If someone who is an 'untouchable' feels you don't pay them enough attention in the hallway, you have hurt their feelings and it is reflected in your review. No Joke. - Senior leadership wants to improve operations/quality/etc. Mid-management doesn't want to loose any good things they have. - Sexism and nepotism is very apparent - Raises and bonuses are not on pharma level, but seriously… 0.50cents and being told, 'it's extra'.
