Head Start Family Service Coordinator
Pros
Great environment working with many who truly have their heart in helping families and children succeed. Good trainings were provided. I enjoyed my job there for 2 years and hated to leave but felt I had no choice. I was passionate about my job but unable to do it efficiently as I was forced to drive bus 4 hours a day on top of my 37 hour/wk FSC job due to inability to keep a driver. I burned out from the stress of trying to keep up and from frustration of lack of support. I didn't see it getting any better.
Cons
Stressful! Poor communication among management. I've heard it has gotten better since the last Director changed positions and the new one stepped in. They have a hard time retaining employees which causes a lot of stress on current staff as they have no choice but to do jobs of those who left on top of their current position. This causes a lot of burnout and great people to leave. I believe this problem could be prevented if the cooks and bus drivers were paid more (VERY hard to find drivers due to low pay) Some of the teachers were only there for a paycheck and didn't do their jobs.
